Wow, the scripts and art in just 2 weeks!? Those are some mad skills you two have!

Would it be too much to hope for an unencrypted version so that one could try to learn from what you've done?


Sure, I've always been happy to hand out unencrypted versions. I warn you though, since it was 2 weeks you won't find this some easy-to-port system! I've made a few games in my days so I have to work really clean (hacks cause more trouble than not) but it's built to what makes sense to me!

That said, the message system can be pretty much lifted right into a new project, just need the SETTINGS: Shortcuts and Andrew: Message Enhancements scripts, it does:
1. Faces of any size (just pick the right square)
2. Auto-sizing to the text

This game looks great and I'm going to say you sold me! How you wrote everything and showcased it made me want to order (download :3) NOW!!! I would love if you posted somewhere tips or a guide of some sort of the making of this RPG game, how you do it. I'll post again what I think of this game, if I don't forget... :D

I'm finding the combat a little bit intimidating to start off with, though the tutorial is very good. I think my issue is that the controls are counter-intuitive given that RPG Maker's default controls are counter-intuitive in their own way. That said, while I have a controller I generally use for RPG Maker games, I'm having to remap the controls to something that feels comfortable for me personally. In the end this isn't a bad thing, but it isn't immediately welcoming when you start out. I guess that isn't really a criticism per se, just something to keep in mind, I guess. XD

Visually, the system is great, and it doesn't play sloppily either, it just takes a bit to get used to, is all. I'm sure I'll adjust as I spend more time with it. :3

I applaud your use of Mack sprites! I absolutely love them and feel like they're way underrated. I personally feel far more comfortable with taller sprites than the tiny RTP ones, but I feel like I'm in the minority.

Anyway, I love how professional this game feels, and I'll be playing more very soon!

Glad to hear people are some people are enjoying it!

I know the combat system isn't the friendliest to get the hang of, so we've actually been revamping this game a bit.

We're adding the final dungeon, adding more dialogue and scenes, changing item crafting a bit so you have to do less of it for usable items (less flowers, but they're more powerful) and weapon/armor crafting so each item has more value and you can't make overwhelming items quite as quickly!

Here's a few screenshots of the main combat change - instead of using an A/B combo system, you can map up to 8 attacks to Up/Down/Left/Right on the A and B keys, ie. holding down A brings up 4 skills, holding down B brings up another 4, and holding down Guard shows your items and who you can switch to.

Since so much skill rebalancing is needed for the new method, expect completely new classes and combat focus. Instead of each class being independent I'll probably focus each one so you have more reason to switch characters around.

I've just been playing this, it's really great! Quite a few bits have made me chuckle, like the strangely unresponsive door, the intro, and the king ;3 The battle systems great, just getting the hang of it, and really like the character art too! ;3

This is probably known, but when you go to the pub (the location where there's that guy in black) you can walk over the front door... Hard to explain but just walk into the building and it should happen.

Yeah, the first town map has several passability and tileset issues - it was the first map the artist for this ever made and the tileset is offset on some parts and the passability is messed up some (I fixed a lot before it was released, but it needs to be mostly redone.)

The fixes for that are all included in the next version.

Wow this game's interesting! Downloading the game now. One request though: can you please release the sprites and facesets? They're so amazing!


Thanks! I frankensprited the characters, adding a bit of custom stuff here and there. Wouldn't it be kind of weird using the art though, since they wouldn't match the other ones you're using? I draw all the art for our games, so at least the style stays the same.

This game's humor brings a tear to my eye. :3 I got happy vibes through this game...but I have a feeling the game may get dark...just like how dark Final Fantasy IX got in a flash.

I've downloaded this and like everyone else here, I'm impressed with the short amount of time it took to make! Makes me think about how much I can procrastinate.... I like the humor you've put in it. I like games which don't take themselves too seriously.

now I see why this is one of the most popular games here.

 

I came across a problem though, when you are fighting the first boss when and if you lose then go to fight them again, the text before you get into battle scrolls during the battle music and the battle itself, when I get back to the game if it happens again I will screen shot it.
