Alrighty, I recently downloaded the trial version on Rpg Maker VX Ace, I plan on purchasing it when I get my next pay check, and have decided to sit down and focus on this. However, at the moment, I keep seeing that the default battle scenario seems to be more Dragon Warrior stylized. What I mean by that is, it's from a first person perspective with the bottom menu showing the character faces and such.

What I'm looking for, is something (either code/script/whatever it is called with this program) or even an in-depth tutorial on how to create a battle system such as Final Fantasy 1-7. I prefer the turn-based, third person narrative look. Where the heroes are on one side of the screen, and the enemies on the other. Hopefully I've explained what I'm looking for clearly enough, thank you for your time.

EDIT: Changed title, due to my brain deciding that I wanted a different topic on the post, than I had as the topic. (Why I didn't realize that when I was typing, I'll never know.)

Those are known as side-view battle systems and they either tend to be with static battlers or animated ones. There's a few different styles of battlers to use and it's basically whatever suits your needs.

Here's a little quick list from my topic of the ones I currently know are in use for Ace:
Victor Engine - Animated Battle - By Victor Sant
Animated Battlers - By Jet
Animated Battlers - By Fomar0153
Animate Enemies - By Rhyme
I think from it being your first time using a script like this then it may be best to use the one from Fomar0153.

I'm running the Great North Run in September in aid of NACC. A condition my wife has in it's severe form.

Please sponsor me with whatever you can, thank you.

If you'd like to help spread the word please share the image and link to my fundraising page.

Wow! That was fast! A couple questions, you said static and or animated. Meaning that the characters could be either standing completely still, or they could be moving back and forth, such as moving or shuffling right? Also, where would I go in the program to add scripts? Are they a global thing? Or are they specific per cell?

Edit: Oh that script reminds me of the good old days of Shining Force. Ah the nostalgia.

- Open the script editor (F11)
- Scroll down until you see : Material
- Put your script under it
- read carefully all the green information the script contain

Quick review on those battle systems, using only default commands.
Victor script
Major bug : corpse of the hero do not remain on the battle field
Minors bugs : some poses aren't used correctly with the correct command, like objects
Good point : be able do some custom skills.
Compatible with Yanfly scripts : yes

Jet script
Major bug : none
Minor bugs : some poses aren't used correctly with the correct command, like magic. Archers' character do use long range attack.
Good point : easy to use
Compatible with Yanfly scripts : yes but have a minor bug with Yanfly damage pop up.

Fomar0153
I couldn't make it work like the previous script, the ennemies appeared under the floor.

Rhyme script
I did not test it.

I'm not sure if I'll use Yanfly just yet, that's the script that allows damage to appear above the attacked character, and makes the actor faces appear at the bottom. I'd enjoy the damage above the head thing, but I'd like just the name and health/magic to appear at the bottom.
