This suggestion was thrown into the table and so we have to ask, if we were to release RPG Maker 2003 in English would you buy it?
Vote and post your suggestions here~

Just a note, take the EULA into consideration. This means you guys shouldn't use patches/plug-ins/external programs if you want to use RPG Maker. Not sure about the RPG_RT.exe though since I know it's not illegal to change the icon.

I also wanted to add that this was actually requested by a fan and her reasoning was she wants to own a legal copy of her childhood program, which we think isn't a bad idea if it's for the sake of Nostalgia and just a collector's item.

After talking to my boss, its estimated price value is $20.

EDIT: Wow I just posted the topic and there's already a petition, over here http://www.change.or...m2k3-in-english

Definite yes from me, too. I'd love to be able to actually legally own an English version of 2K3! Vote yes people~

No for me. I was more into 2k than 2k3. A preference more than anything, but after XP I don't feel much like looking back.

Yep for me, though I don't know how well it would do. VXAce pretty much outclasses it at this point, minus maybe a few notable features 2k3 has.

At this point, I believe it's a collector's item and just owning it legally for most fans.

Yes, this is basically the idea. Nostalgia, and having a fixed legal copy. It's aimed at the collectors as well :)
It's fun to pop open the older software and do different things, to be completely honest.

For the sake of making up for years of pirating the product, that's not such a bad idea. How much trouble would you have to go through to re-translate and fix the bugs, though?

We're not sure how far Eb! is willing to go in regards to bug fixing, but translating shouldn't be a problem I believe.

I don't need it. :) I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm fine with SNES graphics and everything, it's just that I have no desire to design a game with such.

Also, if you're wondering why you should bother...

Why wouldn't you? It helps EB! and Degica to be inspired to make more of an effort to listen to the fans.
You no longer have to live in shame knowing you've got a pirated copy.
You will legally own it.
It also makes a neat collection item for nostalgia's sake.
You can legally sell a 2k3 game.
You will gain legal usage of the RTP that came with it so that if you want to use it in other RM engines, you can.
You'll be supporting the people who support your hobby - it's almost like you'll be supporting your hobby yourself.
You will no longer be one of the dregs of society who pulls down the rest of your hobby-kin.

Are those enough reasons? Or would you like more?

This really is a big deal, though. How many other companies would take a fan's suggestion and run with it when it comes to an older program? Wanna be part of RM history? Vote yes~

I would buy it. <3
It was my first touch with the RPG maker engines and I have so many memories of my embarrassingly bad never finished small project in it. It would have such a huge nostalgia factor for me. In addition to that I did like the musics a lot and would be happy to get to use them in Ace for example.

Changed vote; if the price is reasonable I reckon it'd be okay. The lower-res graphics are more to my speed ability-wise anyway so working on a side project with it seems interesting.

Why 2003? It would make more sense to bring over RPG Maker 2000 Value, which has numerous upgrades over 2000, many features of which were in 2003. Not to mention that RPG Maker 2000 Value is still sold in stores (around 4000 yen).
