Hi, I was attempting to make my own type of 'battle'

not an actual battle system per se.
here's what i mean:
my custom enemy(a cop) shows up in battle
i have changed the term for skills to 'alibi' or 'lie' or 'excuses' or something similar
and when the cop shows up you can choose to use different excuses(and further down the road, based on the time)
when you use your excuse, 'going to 7-eleven' or something, then the cop will either 1)let you go (ie victory) or 2)not buy it and keep questioning you.

i am thinking it would be better and more effective to just leave the entire thing to a common event, with random variables determining how much the cop wants to trust you, and there being two ultimate outcomes 1)you get away and 2)you get arrested.

there will be checks in it where if you get frisked/patted down during the stop then it will have a 1 in 3 chance(random variable 1~3) in getting caught if you have certain 'items' on you. consumable items. anyways, i have the entire thing worked out really but do i really HAVE to set it up as an event or can i just leave it to the randomness with percentages in the attack/skills setup?

let me know what you think, and in the meantime i am going to attempt to make the event-based one, with a tutorial to follow soon on this site.
