RPG Maker MV v1.3.4 Update

123 posts in this topic

Hey everyone, the latest version of RPG Maker MV is here!

We would like to remind everyone to make sure to do the following steps before updating to ensure that when the update happens so your changes won’t be overwritten:

- Make a backup of your Generator folder if you edited it.
- Replace BGM files if you got it from 1.3.0.

If you have an old project that needs updating, do the following:

- Make a backup of your project.
- Create a new project or go to the NewData folder in your RPG Maker MV root (where MV is installed) folder.
- Copy the new js files (RPG*.js and Libs Folder) and replace the one in your -old project.
- DO NOT COPY plugins.js or it will replace your plugin settings.
- Copy index.html files to your current project.

It should now be updated!

Finally, that stupid controller warning is gone.

Finally, that stupid controller warning is gone. That alone makes it worth updating to the new version.

Thanks for the update! :)

Uhm, character generator: you can load and save .json files thats you create after the update. But any .json files made before the 1.3.4 update won't load.

I hate to complain about generator updates especially since I've wanted to be able to make children since the feature was announced but...

There seems to be something terribly wrong with this kid's mouth.

yes, yes I know. When they packaged they ruined it somehow. We'll get it fixed AFTER the holidays.

I didn't meant to offend. Glad to hear it'll be fixed.

EDIT: Wanted to help contribute, I'm sharing my fix I did until official one.

Sorry for saying this, but I will not update the program this time. Of course I appreciate the updates and your hard work, devs, but I feel disappointed right now, and I don't want to offend.

It's been over a year since I purchased this Maker and despite of the continuous updates (some of them were for good), I feel it's incomplete, and I tell you some reasons:

1.- No sound lag and delay, and FPS drops when loading some graphics and sound resources fix. Words are unnecessary for this, there's a Preload Manager plugin (still in development), with and add-on for the sound lag and delay, but it's not an official solution and it's nest of bugs due to it's nature. I don't know how long I have to wait, but for me it's the nº 1 problem with this engine.

2.- No translation fixes. I know, I know. You told me that you are searching an easy way to implement the changes, but I'm using the engine in English because I don't even understand the translation in my language.

3.- Lack of some resources for the generator. Yeah, this Generator it's better than Ace, but something I miss from this generator are things like cloacks with hoods, variety of helmets, the possibility of adding pony tails (yes, in older projects for Ace which I would like to transfer to MV, I have characters, male and female, with pony tails)... and I can still continue, but you know the basic idea.

4.- The continuous bugs. This is something I need to tell you. Every time I update the engine, I have a headache because of the new bugs, some of them from outdated plugins (fortunatelly, some of them updated in a few days), or new engine bugs because of the updates. I know you are working on it and I thank you all for your work, but when you are trying to make a project, some bugs are a step back in the development process. Now it's the bug of loading the generator settings (again).

5.- (This one can be omitted if you want) Pay for a kids parts in the generator. I will not buy this, I think this resources should be in the genenerator by default.

For me, using the BETA versions with Steam it's not a good option, the engine should work well with the newest updates, not the older ones. I tried to give the best support I can to this program, but I reached my limit. That said, I would like to announce that I refuse to use and support this engine until I see that it was worth paying and spend time for it.

Thanks for reading, and goodbye MV, until we meet again.

It IS by default.

We do have an idea on how to fix the Sound Delay. However, until Proper Cache Management is implemented this is going to cause more 'memory leaks.' We just came from PIXI4 and making sure everything works as intended.

I do have an update for this but I'm not sure how much I can tell, yet.

The generator has a LOT of parts. Expecting free updates towards graphics + no subscription payment for any software update is just too much. We are not as big as Unity or Unreal nor do we take royalties from games.

This is normal in game engines and MV is not alone.

Loading Generator Settings actually make sense because of the additional new tab (Kids). I encourage to just recreate the settings and then just save it with the new settings. Otherwise, there's not much we can do here. Either we don't add a Kid's tab or what.

And the price tag would've been higher than 80 USD. And my point in #3.

Only a few parts, I saw the entire tab with one or two resource for every body part.

@Archeia I know your hard work with the engine, you are giving us more than in other Makers and I appreciate that. I know it's necessary to pay for some resources, due to the hard work and time they cost, I don't deny that, but I don't agree with the DLC policies and prices (it's something I've always thought).

Also, I know that you are now working harder to fix the new bugs and don't make mistakes with the future updates, I trust you when you say that, and I encourage you to do your best with the engine. But since RPG Maker MV was released, I spend more than a year and tried a thousand ways to transfer my old projects o remake them, without results, due to bugs, or lack of some resources I have in my VX Ace projects but are not in MV, and I feel very disappointed for that, I really would like to make my projects in this engine.

It's only I want to give an appropriate use to my time in making my project, and MV didn't help well. That's the main reason I leave the engine for now.

Please, do your best, continue with the updates and fixes, your hard work, and maybe someday I will use the MV again.

What do you mean pay for parts though? I checked and didn't see any DLC about the generator.

In the near future, will be a DLC for the generator to add more parts to the Kids tab. That was announced about one or to weeks ago.

Hooray bugfixes!

Can I just say that I'm REALLY glad MV gets continual updates? It's SO RARE to get software that you buy once and still get continuous support for. The trickle down bugs are just part of the deal (welcome to the wonderful world of software development) and they're manageable. So seriously, kudos and thanks for the update! :D

(Also a really tiny note: Yanfly's changelog page says MV 1.3.2 in the text, everything else says 1.3.4)

I do not like to take credit for the hard work @Yanfly @Hackerham and @Liquidize does for the engine. Without them MV wouldn't have gotten as far as it did right now. I do think that the 1.3.0 iteration (PIXI4) Made RMMV a lot more usable than 1.2.0 below versions but YMMV. I respect your opinion with DLC and its prices and there is nothing wrong with that. :rhappy:

I do not disagree with this either. I've been in a constant process of making OMORI in MV and I definitely understand your issues. But if I were to choose whether to pick MV or VXA for the project I settled with MV out of necessity and overall ease of use. There is a lot of quirks with MV a lot (and personally) wouldn't agree with. But I'd like to add that you are not forced to update your project every single update. It's just some people require these fixes more urgently;;

But that's just the new Season Pass stuff. If you already own that, you'll get everything once it's released.

That's it. But I didn't buy the Season Pass, and I don't have future plans to purchase it.

Hooray! New update!

I'll likely wait until the next fix comes in (the one for the generator) before I update, but update I will.

Thank you so much everyone that makes these updates possible, you guys/gals rock!

When purchasing a product, you know what you get. If no child parts were a dealbreaker to you then, you should not have made a purchase period. Creating new resources beyond release costs money, so of course you will be charged for them. Expecting freebies of that magnitude just isn't realistic.

On-topic, I look very forward to the DLC releasing sometime soon.

Nice.  Grabbed the update and will be applying it soon.  Also, hopefully, in a few days, I'll be buying the Season Pass for that delicious set of child generator parts since the stock children tend to be a little too stock when you create towns/villages and want some variety.  Can't wait!

Is it possible to get this from another location?  I'm trying to download the full version, it's reached 22 out of 527 MB, and has done nothing for the last 10 minutes, which is an indication that it's going to die.  Every time there is an update this happens (in fact every time I try to download something from https://s3-ap-northeast-1.amazonaws.com/degica-prod.product-files it's as slow as a wet week, times out frequently, and has to be restarted/resumed).  I don't know if anyone else has this issue - I can download fine from other sites, but only from this site do they freeze after only a small portion, then die and have to be restarted.

I've a very modest, French 'out-in-the-sticks' location, with broadband at 10Mbit/s at best, and have never had any problems with these downloads, either full or update versions. Roughly 10 minutes or so, maybe a tad longer; no drop-outs. I haven't noticed any particular difference between this site and any other. Maybe the Pacific lines are different..? Sorry this doesn't help; just sayin'.
