So, the 'maker' is just a 'PSD' file that you can use to easily create your own world map that you can use in your project thread and such to promote your game.

This is a RAR file, you will need WinRAR (or 7-zip) to unpack the files, download WinRAR here.
Please install the included font on your computer to make this work.

Adobe Photoshop Versions 7.0 and up is required to open this file (CS versions included, Elements is not supported).
If you are using GIMP, you need to install a plugin that allows the same layer styles from Photoshop. I've only been told this, so you'll have to find that one yourself.

It actually really is easier than you think. A good thing to use too is a Photoshop brush like an ink brush (I totally used these ones: http://fav.me/d39dpqu ) which automatically gives a jaggedy edge to your erasing that helps get small details in there with half the work. I had a lot of fun using this Celianna! And now that I know who actually made it, I have someone to credit! Thanks for sharing!

Wait - what, you didn't know? The only way to get it previously was through my old thread on rpgmakervx.net (and my youtube), unless someone posted it somewhere else ...

I searched DeviantArt for a tutorial on how to make an old-school map (because I completely forgot you made this wonderful .psd file) and someone had made a tutorial on how to use it and linked to your youtube page for getting a hold of it. It's here: http://a-fiery-boom....al-PS-202222149 -- Though the person isn't taking credit for it (just for the tutorial on how to use it, but it's very simple to use so it probably doesn't need one), but he still could stand to mention who made it and all that. (And clearly I am blind because your youtube page DID say to credit Celianna but I was really tired, totally missed it, and was going to worry about credits later, haha).

I really like this World Map maker, like REALLY!
Quite a while ago, I made my world map with it and whenever I'm depressed I look at it. The maker made the map look so professional and with just a few photoshop edits, the map could look so much better. I love things that give the user a lot of customisation!

Also, another good way of doing it is to add a layer mask to the map layer. Then you can carve away or add areas back to your land masses easily with the brush tool (hard, 100% flow and opacity) by switching between white and black ('X' key).

I made them though the background was done with a lot of different brushes ... a lot of different ones.

Same thing, really! You're free to do it however you want, though I recommended the eraser tool since it's so easy, any beginner could pick it up. Using masks in Photoshop requires a bit more knowledge.

That is pretty awesome. Probably easier than my previous method; randomly generating land using Fractal Terrains, then converting a small shot of it to Photoshop (because FT was designed to generate realistic Earth-based heightmaps, it did a great job on creating realistic map edges).

Wow, this is great! If only it was easier to translate my overworld map to this actual world map. Maybe I can figure out how to make some sort of overlay in photoshop, so I don't have to eyeball it... Hmm. Doesn't sound that hard.

^ Just take a screenshot of your worldmap, then paste it into photoshop, and set the layer to about 50% opacity

Hmm im probly wrong on this, but this is a map maker? Isnt this just editing a pic to make it look like a map? Wouldnt it be simpler just to tell ppl they can edit a pic in PS to make there world map?

Yeah read it and I still have no idea what you are talking about, so more info plz. ANYWAYS

This is a example of what my point was, you had a good idea but it can even be simpler, ANY image can be a world map and you can edit for fun, like thisthats the first one, then with some fast edits, not done yet we get.


You did a good video of it but some ppl still dont understand, so my point is make it simpler like LATOS world map editor, you just edit a map with PS.......you see that was a joke...and the best part is it works very well. Now let me give you some props for you idea cause I gotta say as long as I been doing this I NEVER actually thought to just use a pic as a world map! The best benefit I can see to this is that the world map tilesets they have now really dont work very well, they are all custom of course and clash with xp and im guessing others unless you have a entire custom tileset to work with.

So really your killing two birds with one stone
