Finally, an update since 5/7/12! I'd created some mousy ears for demi-humans and anthros. In addition, I'm also including a "sampler" of my icons thus far, including some modern-ish body armor. Next thing I'll be working on: more icons!

So! It just so happens that I know my way around sprites and frankenspriting, as I'd just recently realized. Probably thanks to my days making sprite comics on a cruddy Tripod site that were so lame they were funny, to be honest. As my talent with frankenspriting improved with me half-arsing less and less, and with the usage of both Paint.net AND MS Paint (used to only use the latter), well... got sprites in stock that I wanted to show off.

Terms of use? If you'd like to use my sprites, go for it; just credit me, okay? Also, PLEASE, also credit those who I got the basis of my sprites from. Furthermore, I'm making this "custom" sprites for a game I'm working on; on the off chance I actually -do- get this one off the ground and at least make it to a demo, keep in mind you'll see these sprites in that game.

Additional credit needed for some materials are:

*Avadan (colors from his lion/tiger anthro sprite): Tiger person head base

*Terra-chan (fox anthro base sprites, as well as her dwarf head base and "Kenshin"-style kimono and hakama body parts): Samurai character sprites

*RainbowGrenade (Anthro face color scheme): Mouse ears

*Enterbrain: duh

 

~Sprites~

A female, human Yojimbo. For those unaware, "yojimbo" is a Japanese term for a swordsman or bodyguard -- typically used, as far as I recall, to describe a samurai who hires out his services as a bodyguard if his pay is low.

Aaaaand here is her male counterpart. Hoping the hair style is Japanese samurai enough; kind of reminds me of Splinter's human form's hairdo from the original Ninja Turtles cartoon from the 80's. =3

 

Though, I feel the male version turned out better with the markings, probably due to a lack of bangs...

 

~Anthro/"Furry" Head Bases~

Note: For the convenience of those frankenspriters who might want to use my rubbish, I've included the colors used in each base.

Badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger MUSHR-- ahem... anywho. So, yeah, I love me some badgers from the Redwall series. As such, I figured I may as well make a badger race for my game, called the "melesites" (derived from the genus of the European badger, meles meles). Kind of makes me think this would work for a voodoo practitioner's head, too... just don't add the silly animal ears, and edit out the animal noses. No tail here; a badger's tail is usually a bit stubby, so no need for making specially-tailored pants for such stubby tail extensions. =P

Tiger head sprites! Ever since I discovered Calvin and Hobbes in my youth, I've had tigers be my favorite animal ever since. The tails were a pain to try to add stripes to, so I simply left the tip of the tail black instead of trying to stripe the whole thing. Hoping the black kitty ears from the VX Ace Character Generator works for these...

And, here are the wolf heads. I'd originally recolored the tails made by Terra-chan from her fox anthro base... the tail for wolfgirls(/boys) from the VX Ace Character Generator were too thin IMHO, working better for say, the catgirls(/boys).

 

~Icons~

A partisan/spontoon polearm. Fell in love with these ever since Final Fantasy IX, where my favorite character from that game, Freya, used it as her starting weapon.

A baselard dagger. Decided to make it a bit of a "blue steel beauty" after making a bunch of sword sprites that all used tints and shades of grey for the metal colors. Overall, besides this and the zweihander, probably my favorite icon done thus far.

A claymore. This, along with most other pics (after my partisan/spontoon), were actually done freehand; I'd originally scanned inked images onto my computer, but shrinking them down made the outline hard to pixel accurately, and I also physically drew them on hard-to-trace-and-still-look-good angles. *derp* Speaking of Scottish weapons, who else can't wait for Pixar's "Brave" to hit theaters?

A sai. Loved it ever since my days of watching the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 80's cartoon (hence why the sai's wrapping is red |3), as well as loving Mileena of Mortal Kombat. Sadly, the most n00bish-looking of my icons IMHO, due to one having a tough time differentiating the shading from the lighter parts of the "darkened metal".

Awww yeah, now we're talking. This here is a zweihander, one of few historically accurate two-handed swords out there. One of my all-time favorite melee weapons. The little prongs projecting from the base of the blade (which, as far as I recall, were used to help parry enemy blades not unlike a sai's prongs) seem a bit too big. But hey, it was darned if I did or darned if I didn't -- the prongs would look too miniscule otherwise when I tried it.

A simple, small cutlery knife. Most likely to be the first knife-category weapon for my game project. Was originally going to have the weapon be a balisong/"butterfly knife", until I learned such weapons are anachronistic in a Renaissance setting.

An estoc; basically, a two-handed rapier meant to pierce through the open spots of armor. Styled it akin to the estoc from Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, and overall, one of my favorite weapons (I love any rapier-like weapon, as well as swords with basket hilts). And speaking of CV:DoS...

...the mental image of the katana icons from such a game were a BIG help with me creating this nodachi, or two-handed katana. Originally tried to style the blade like the RMVX/A RTP katana icon... but couldn't figure it out by hand. Aside from looking like the love child of Cloud's Buster Sword and a samurai sword, I must say this actually turned out better than I thought it would.

My icon sampler. As you can see, I'd included a new partisan sprite, as well as a new plasma rifle sprite that possesses a rifle stock instead of a pair of handles like what you'd find on an SMG or pistol. In addition, added in a blue jumpsuit, a black leather jacket, and a cuirass of boiled leather armor.

Mouse ears, either for kemonomimi (nezumimimi?) or anthropomorphic mouse characters. Not amazing, but I practically made sweet love to my tablet to produce this, so I hope it turned out good.

So... have a new sprite up -- an icon, to be precise. Only have one for now, as this is the first time I tried to (professionally) make a sprite. Took me an hour of scanning a picture, outlining with pixels, resizing, coloring, resizing again, and recoloring to produce this bad boy. All for this wee l'il partisan/spontoon here! -->

Very impressive icons! Do you accept requests? Please say yes! I've got a few! And if you accept them, I'll let you have a copy of my rpg! Or....at least what I've got so far. I've almost completed my first chapter! It's called "The Lost Memoirs". It's non commercial, but still very fun! If you DO choose to take my requests, then here they are!
1: A Quhab. (Also known as a wrist blade, wrist spike, and suwwaiyha [At least I THINK that's how you spell it]. It's a type of Katar.) I'd like this quhab to be made completely of magic ice. (bluish glowing ice)
2: Tiger Claws: (Another type of Katar, or "Claw Class Weapon") This one needs to be made of the same type of ice as the previous one.
3: A Zweihander: Also made of the magic ice.
And finally, 4: A skean dhu: (A ceremonial scottish dagger) Also made of magic ice.
If you could help me out with this, I'd be SO happy.

Thank you. And, sure, I will see what I can do about your requests -- probably the hardest one to find will be the quhab/suwwaiyha. I know they're in Diablo III as katar-class weapons, but I'm not 100% sure what they look like. As for the tiger claws, do you mean JRPG-style ones, that look like... these? Or, as I'm assuming, the tiger claws from India, also called 'bagh nakh', which look like... these?

So you know, that Icon you posted for the Bagh Nakh is actually fitting for the skean dhu/ Just a little alteration'd be nice. As for images, look at the link. I posted images there in my request. But so you know, the Tiger Claws in the picture I posted aren't entirely accurate. The claws all need to be parallel to eachother. Not angled. But yeah, there's pictures there for examples.

Well... here they are. Hope they turned out alright.

Just a note: the skean dhu's base sprite was one made by a person with the handle "Whitecat" -- be sure to credit him/her, at the very least, when using the icon. Otherwise, the other icons are made by myself. Also, sorry about the missing glow on the tip of the zweihander; couldn't keep it in there within the confines of a 24x24 icon, unless you'd like me to shorten parts of the icon.

I don't know why. But it seems like I can't see the sprites you posted. It shows like a "Domain Unregistered" thingy... I want to see that though.

Hey icewulf7, just wnated to give you a little feedback on your sprites. There very nice, but the bow on the waste seems to cause some major distortion especially when walking, you may wana patch that up a little.
Also interesting concept with the badger people.
