  • Moderators, you must have so much patience to be able to deal with everything. I mod in a server of sorts and today we just got a message, which, despite it's helpful constructive criticism, basically stated that all of the mods were jerks and that was the only reason our server was unlikeable. So, thank you, for having patience. You are appreciated! :kaoluv:

I've seen some jerk mods on some subreddit pages and you guys are certainly not jerks! You make sure the rules are followed but you're not mean about it. It seems like you guys do a lot to support the community too. That's exactly how mods should be.

You'll get some that just don't want to be told what to do, and when you do you'll all be called jerks. That's just life sadly.

And yes, we try to not be jerks. As best as possible at least.

Thanks for the compliments. We hold each other to the standard of acting professionally, and I think all of us are doing this because we genuinely want to be a positive impact on the community anyhow - so when there's disarray or we take some abuse from a member, I think those two things help whoever is dealing with the issue show a lot of patience.
I just thought of the best achievement for my game: "'I Didn't Know You Were a Developer!' Find and enter one or more dev room(s)."

Oh my gosh. Thank you, Macy's! Thank you so much! You have made me very happy!
I have a friend who is going through some pretty hard things right now. They think that the only emotions that they should exhibit are hate and ruthlessness, and that any other emotion makes them weak. Another friend and I are trying to help this person, but we could use a little extra help. So, are there any inspirational quotes or, like, things along that line that you can share? Thanks.

I would recommend having them look into mindfulness and stoicism. Note stoicism isn't what people assume it is, which is...what your friend is doing with his emotions. True stoicism isn't about bottling up emotions but in recognizing the effect emotions have on you in order to redirect that energy in more positive ways where possible, and seek healthy outlets for release where it isn't.

Mindfulness meditation is a good start for learning about how your emotional drives are unconsciously influencing you and how to reinforce your own control over your emotional state rather than let it rule you, either through repression or exhibition, neither of which are generally healthy. It helped me when I was an angry emotionally repressed basketcase anyway.

@Philosophus Vagus, thank you for your advice, I'll be sure to tell them... Also, how on earth did you know that this friend of mine is a boy!? I am pretty sure that I never used a male pronoun...

@Hyouryuu-Na, oh, shoot, I forgot to include valuable information! Each hive is made up of hexes and has a perimeter of 54, meaning there are 61 hexes to each hive.

I like pumpkin but I have limits. No pumpkin flavored coffee - the only thing I like in my coffee is coffee and if I add anything to the coffee it's more coffee........ And since I don't add any creamers or sugar or anything like that to the coffee I have no use for pumpkin flavored stuff like that.....

Pumpkin spice flavour is just the flavours of the spices commonly used to to spice pumpkin pie; usually cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger.

@taarna23, thanks for that clarification! @zzmmorgan, I don't drink pumpkin coffee either... or any coffee, for that matter...
So, what is this "Inktober" everyone's speaking about? Because apparently, I have no idea what happens on this site...

It's just a creative challenge, like NaNoWriMo. In october you draw a picture in ink every day of the month, and there's a prompt list if you want to use one, but it's not required.

I was going to explain but you guys did a pretty good job. I never do the Inktober challenge though. I just know I'm not going to have enough time, with job searching and all, plus I don't like drawing in ink.

I hope I'm not the only one super excited about the Minecraft Live broadcast on Friday! (At least, Friday for me) I'm planning to catch it because I need to get my vote in there and add a mob to the game! I hope I'll see some of you there!
What the community thinks hackers do:
"Ok, now let's just type in the /win command, and... done!"

    What hackers actually do:
"Alright, so I have a high jump mod installed, now I can just jump over everyone and be sneaky until I'm the last one standing."

Yeah, a lot of people that get into game making, regardless of tool, think it will be easy. This is how we get so many awful shovelware titles - someone gives up and goes for quantity over quality.

Making a good game is hard, and if you've been told otherwise, you've been lied to. Just remember, nothing worth doing is ever easy. Just keep at it.

@zzmmorgan, that is pretty funny! Who knew a no-code solution would actually require coding? I wish that I could find that make game button, that would make my life so much easier! I mean, unless it isn't a quality game that gets made by the button!

@taarna23, the community severely understates game-making, and, sadly, shovelware is a by-product of that misunderstanding. I will keep at it, and thank you for the words of encouragement!
Just got two Switch E-Shop 20$ gift cards... Is 3D All-Stars worth it? Or should I get something like Celeste? I'd love to know your opinion!
--- Spellcasting in the battle ---

Hero: Mage, I'm waiting on that fireball spell!
    Mage: I'm working on it!

    (30 Minutes Later)

Hero: (Blocking The Monster's Attack) Where's that fireball spell!?
Mage: (gathering flowers)Hold on! It's on page 140 and I need verbal, somatic, and material components!

So the mage in the end will throw flowers, dance and sing some Jethro Tull song - that's why magicians got long beards. Consistence.

Here are is the lyrics of the Smash Bros opening song, translated into multiple foreign languages, then translated back to English, all using Google Translate. Enjoy! Here's the original lyrics for comparison: https://tinyurl.com/y68pdvyk and here's the translated lyrics: https://tinyurl.com/yyyuvrvf
If you want a specific song butchered by Google translate, you can always make a request!
Well, this is a nice change! Finally got some blue light glasses, so my eyes won't strain themselves while I'm working on my game! This is glorious!

Egg-sitting minigame is coming along nicely. Are you a bad enough dino to keep all these raptor eggs warm?

I forgot to post the animated version of the previous map I was working on. I'm still arguing with myself on if I like the stark blue ground better than the undergrowth ground used on the waterfall map. Hmm...
now that fmod is free for indie(<200k revenue), it would be interesting to see someone add fmod support for rpg maker
Can't say I can't promise progress on a project just yet. But I can say I had fun databasing tonight. :)
