If truth is considered relative and morality is subjective then does that mean humanity is incapable of learning from the past, or that we just thrive on insanity?

Morality is not subjective. Morality is relative too. It is easy to realize that. That mean humanity is incapable of learning from the past as long as humanity keeps societies immature. And that is insanity. At least in my opinon.

Errr... why isn't this a thread already? I like philosophical and social conversations. It helps us understand more than one way of thinking thus it can be even relative with game making (game character personas) not to mention that it seems a very interesting topic. I wanna reply to everyone, but that would be a spam if I do this here. Voting for topic on Off topic discussions. :D

At least you can act all surprised, right? And yeah, stuff like that happens. My hubby has bought me stuff, not thinking about the fact that I will just see the bank statement and realize what he's bought.

@Kyuukon: a violin it looks like. Guess when you can't actually come up with something you want when asked you end up with spoken childhood regrets being resolved...man I love my family.

@mlogan: I'm pretty bad at feigning surprise sadly, or feigning anything really. Still maybe excitement can overshadow any lack of surprise come the 15th. It is funny how people can overlook these things though, with technology advancing as it is we seem to be trading in our worldly percept...

Things have been well. Lots of travels and getting ready to move. So, busy but good.

        Hope you've been well, also.

I've been good, busy as well and neglecting my hobbies but good.

Got to where I wasn't getting enough work done on anything to justify really being here so I just kind of faded out for a while I guess.

Probably going to be like that for a while longer, I may be a procrastinating, undisciplined hobbyist but at least I don't give up on them.

Hope your move goes well, and your hunt for the northern lights as well.

My university closed for just about nothing. The actual power would have to be out. The only time I recall my classes being cancelled was because the state was riding them about not closing, lol. So they wanted to get the governor off their back.

byron about the parent I can not agree more. If you are not a kid anymore you are responsible for yourself and your action. Still parents do a lot of damage sometimes that can not be fixed easily by the individual.

Figuring out skill progressions sucks. No wonder so many games used to just lock you into roles... Need to find a middle ground where players still have input in character leveling but without completely breaking the game or taking away character individuality in game.
      1. Warpmind
        Warpmind
I did write a character advancement system with zero levels - experience was used to point-buy stats and skills.

That was Way Back When, and I only Evented the whole thing. It was... well, it *worked*, but it was only almost as pretty as Norman Bates' mother... -_-

Yeah, I've tried several things now. ATM I'm leaning towards having equipment determine usable skill types, and use yanfly Jp system to learn skills. That way different weapons allow different skillsets, but don't restrict you to using under leveled gear to get all the skills you want... Of course one of the characters happens to be a dragon... And I'm not sure right now wha I do with her.

^because if there is something out there for us to aspire to we've clearly missed the mark as a whole. Much easier to accept that people make their own calling than to think 99% of us are just completely off mark of what we were destined to be.

Destiny, or fate, is a predetermined course of events. You can't miss the mark. If there was a destiny for every person, then every person fulfills their destiny completely. If a higher being construed this destiny, then our failings and fumblings are also parts of its design.

@deathswallow: they could have been, we live in the middle of the woods and while there's a house every 10 miles there are places I can be 30 yards from my own house and to the eye I'll be miles deep in wilderness so it is possible some idiot thought he was away from civilization and just shot. So he could have been an idiot who can't use gps; though I might rather have a spiteful horse killer than an idiot who thought he was deer hunting actually.
