Me 3 AM: How do straws taste like? I mean, it's plastic but, we are having all of this eco movement because of turtles eating those things... They should be tasty then, right?

I thing I have one in my kitchen. I will search for it and say here how it went.

Update: Nope, not tasty at all... you just munch on it and it has that strange sensation like... it feels boneless. 4/10 experience.

Still can't figure out why turtles would want to eat that. Guess I will go back to watch how chinese candies are made.
No more working around it, I will try my hand at pixel art to create sprites for my game since commisionning them is really blowing a hole to my wallet and not everything that I want is around the net for an acessible price (four dollars in my country is more than enough to buy a fancy meal for lunch and dinner so, yeah...)

Don't forget that you don't need to spend any money on assets until your project is complete! You'll save a ton of money by replacing "placeholder" assets at the end of the dev cycle, rather than frontloading those assets before you've done any game making!

How can one be inspired with placeholders... but I wonder if pixel art is different to make compared to manual drawings...

Inspiration from front loading projects with assets doesn't really finish many projects. There are too many people on these forums who buy a bunch of assets and never complete a game. It would seem to me that "inspiration" doesn't count for anything in the face of "never completing the project".
Why did MZ decide to put a tileset for a cobweb but didn't give us an enemy image or character of a spider? Had to search it in MV's dlc folder and get Marimo's spider-woman enemy since the normal spider on MV doesn't quite feel right as a boss. Now, I need to search for a spritesheet that has a woman spider in it to make the introduction...
Just spent the last hour trying to fix an annoying problem where whenever I reused the event that generates the chest and put it back, it would appear with the closed sprite instead of the open one. So, you opened the chest and then he closed after you came back. All that time doing all sorts of attempts to fix it and guess the solution... the "set event location" was marked as "direction: down" instead of retain...

@Nereid the direction of the sprite was changing the chest from open to closed. But I have no idea why. It was the image of the open chest in the event itself, it wasn't even a movement route. When I removed the direction, the event work as intended. I am confused about it too but, if it's working, it's working. That's good enough for me.

So, when using a sprite like chests, doors, etc... You have a sprite sheet. For chests, the sprite sheet has 9 different frames. Each of those frames are correlated to a direction. So you just have the 'event' face a certain direction and it'll display that frame. In your case, Direction Down = Chest Open.

As GmOcean said, even the sprites for static, inanimate objects follow the same direction and frame patterns as moving characters do. If you make a chest face a certain direction, its graphic will switch to what's there for that direction in its sprite sheet.
Just a common advice for people like me... NEVER leave holes under you door. Cockroaches made their way into my door and made a nest there...

Result: I heard them moving inside my door and the loud noise scared me... I punched the door in reflex...

I broke my door and a lot of them crawled my arm... I think I will spend the rest of my day in the shower.

They will just find another way in, that's what they do.. they can chew through wood. It's kind of sad that I know this stuff. I used to deal with large infestations all the time.

They are attracted to paper/wood/cardboard. Wood might be tough if your room is made out of it, the rest are easy. Keep all food out and they wont bother you, they will only venture to a place that has those things + food.

@Neptuna Unfortunately, you are right, my door is/was made of wood so, this proved to be the perfect bait for them. On top of that, I like to eat in my room while watching a random video or working in my game so... yeah... guess I pretty much "invited" them for a luxurious stay at my room...
Got some coal as a present for christmas. Well, guess it's time for some barbecue.

Happy christmas for everyone out there!

I hope you realize that's one the most insulting kinds of christmas gifts that can be given to someone.

@Neptuna well, in my family this is not exactly insulting but is more commonly interpreted as a joke than a serious insult. But, thank you for your concern.
Man, there is a very popular drink in my state called "tereré" it is wonderful. Nothing better than drinking something cold right now...

Brazilian, but you are correct in a way since Mato Grosso do Sul is pretty close to Paraguay and the cultures mixed here.
This time of the year really makes me tired for some reason... must be the heat and the festive ambience... maybe I should hit the gym next year, just to recover a bit of my energy and focus
