  • After a long while I am now making a new "short" game starting with a mini-world map and it's setting. I like it so far! : )
    Saving lots of RPG Maker VX Ace resources from various websites, all RTP-looking but wow it consumes a lot of time!

    @SOC Yes, it can be annoying at times, but it's great when the ideas seem good and stories go somewhere.
    I believe games with just RTP can still turn out to be fun, and creative games, if the person learns the engine well. What do you all think?

    I am still using RTP because I am still learning. Most of the time, most people is bug and crashes. The free game uses RTP who cares. The commercial game that uses RTP and does a half brake job on polished and put on the stream. You are doing a disservice to us all, that is a problem.

    I hope Stream changes policy to vet RPG maker games, so only good games can be a sale on its store. It hurts all of us: customer, stream, and hard-working publishers. That is my opinion.

    @Sharm Wow I'm glad a lot of people agree! I think so as well, but I do agree for those artists who like to have there own graphics, that they can make something really good with RPG Maker too!

    I don't agree with "pirating" things, as long as you have the money to purchase them yourself. Just thought of that today.

    You're right, most people don't evaluate stuff objectively. In fact even Kant's morality is not objective, but subjective, because it is tied to feelings between good and bad. I guess I can thank my parents for being too busy to bring me up, since in the end I have developed my moral systems on my own.

    I'm not reading eveything that written here since it's a lot for me to take it, but I've still enjoyed the conversation between @MushroomCake28 and @Poryg You both seem to have a lot to say about your views and I find them intresting. I agree things aren't always black or white, but for me I was just making a simple statment that I don't "pirate" anything now, as I don't see a need to do it.

    @mlogan also made a fair point about third world countries. But my view is education should be easy for anyone world wide, it shouldn't become so complicated that people can't help give good education to everyone. Still, there is only little I can do to help so I have only done the little I can do with those things.
    Making slow progress on my game. Finished a story outline and dialogue up to the first three dungeons and first two towns of the game.

    Though I have a few party skills against two bosses ideas planned out, but I'll focus more on that once the story is done.

    I've decided once it's done I'll add more to the title of the game and give it a completely new game page since basically everything in it will be very different except some of the major story ideas and scenes.
    Yet yesterday, simple somewhat creative ideas came to me, many at once. I liked most of them & there easy to use. Funny how that worked out.

    Sometimes we need to let our brain work in things passively. I really like going for a walk at least once a day when I'm trying to solve a lot of creative problems like writing a story or making complex art to get my brain to do this. It works best if you move and let your mind wander.

    I agree with you completely about walks! I try and go for a walk almost every day, not quite but most days I do, and some of those days I may go for 2 or 3 walks. Where I live I'm very blessed that it's easy to do and we had a lot of nice weather lately, though winter is starting to come. For me it helps clear my brain from anything else it's been doing and gives me a break.

    Can't say I get new ideas while walking, as for me my mind only thinks about the walk at the time, but I know it's healthy and still does good for my brain, and it does help a lot with doing something afterwards. I think it's important we have breaks from more complex things or a lot of work and a walk is a good type of break to have.
    2 days ago was browsing TVTropes for story ideas. Instead of helping, felt confused. For me, it's difficult to implement ideas this way.
    How long did it take you to get your game project titled? Or is it still untitled? :)

    Generally speaking, once I decided all the major events of the plots, the title kinda comes by itself. Usually it's a lame title, but a title nonetheless... :p

    Alright I'm not going to respond to everything here because of the amount of replies but I want to thank you all for sharing what you do! Glad to see people can go back to the title later in there project like I do too. I guess though for a contest you just have to stick with an early one....

    I had a title and sub-title real fast actually and it's still viable however the moment I feel it doesn't fit anymore it'll change :D

    Finally making progress with my new game. Still untitled, struggling to come up with a title. I'm sure I'll get one eventually! Haha. :)
    Also very thankful for the artists in the resource section for there amazing resources! :)
    Adding character generator bits in MV. The ones I found on this forum. Taking a while but worth it.
    The next version of Chained Worlds is in works! Changing the mechanics in my old Chained Worlds game. Should turn out fun.

New update for Battle Castle: Shadow from the Past A Shadow's Echo. No gameplay changes or new content, but lots of things got renamed, including the game title, for extra immersion. Some things related to sound too, like activating chests and taking things.

Well, if anyone has a funny, simple, easy RM game they want me to playtest/review, I would love it.
Someone close to me straight up told me they didn't think my relationship with my girlfriend would last. No lead up, very bluntly. Like it's obvious or something. Trying not to let it get to my head, but it's hard.
The distraction would be a life saver.

My first foray into a plugin that I plan to release. Working on something for those who want to set up a Dragon Quest style battle HUD with minimal fuss. Includes the ability to round the battleback corners to fit your windowskin and, of course, front-view animations.
