I watch next to no tv, and I only listen to the radio on my half-hour drive home from work - some days. I hear a song for the first time ever and think "what great music they're making now" only to discover it's an old band I've never heard of but had an almost cult following when they were popular!

Yeah, but then again, I've only had the game 2 weeks so far, and been doing about 20 minutes a day. Right now I've got 65 seconds on Stage 1, 47 on Stage 2, no idea on Stage 3 (20 something?), 16 seconds on Stage 4 (hyper mode of Stage 1), 5 and 6 are not unlocked yet.

When you're so poor you can't afford much, so you make a filling dinner using ketchup, random seasonings, leftover noodles, sandwich bread, and a little bit of leftover butter.

leaving the mechanics as it's own separate matter that merits it's own treaty.... Portal was Valve's revolution of the BSP format.
the only engine capable of rendering quality similar to Source, at the time, was Unreal. And you probably know how demanding it is, for rendering said quality.
and don't even get me started on CryTek.

I played it years ago for the same reason. "What's the fuss about?". The dark humor got me. Then, the puzzles. It did something I've never seen done before or since. I WANTED to complete the puzzles. WITHOUT A GUIDE. I would feel SMART for completing them. Portal 2 solidified the story much better, though the puzzles weren't as good.

Oh my God, and why did he even need to wear that charm? It didn't seem to alter the events going on around him or protect him from the villains Magic, it just makes Julius and Alucard come in and bail his ass out. Why couldn't they just do that without the charm?

the game actually does tell you to put it on, though.
