  • Working on rotating text for the title screen plugin. Still can't figure it out tho :kaoback:
    sprite.anchor at (0,0) for drawText and then sprite.anchor at (0.5, 0.5) to make the rotation easier, but somehow the engine only registering the last anchor assignment?!

    Some progress on the title screen UI plugin!
    The particle system is using my own but I feel like implementing Pixi Particle is better, since user can create it on pixi editor here then can just import the JSON file. That'll be my homework then :hswt:
    Trying my hand at plugin development now, I hope I'm not too late! :hhappy:
    Planning to create a title screen UI plugin. Starting with basic features for Window_TitleCommand, will add advanced features later such as text animation, window easing, cursor, etc.

    Any ideas for a feature to add?

    Ahh, I did wonder if that might have been the route you went. :D I came up with a fairly jiggly way of doing it involving measuring the width of the entire line and then subtracting the text width and it's all very spaghetti but it works. XD

    I think if we only need specific part of text codes, we could add the feature ourselves (like showing icon). But sometimes it's the laziness lolll

    I kinda miss the RPGM community around pandemic (not missing the pandemic itself, mind you).
    I feel like it was the peak when everyone was active haha.

    But interestingly searching RPG Maker on Youtube rarely showed me the let's players, I guess it's the algorithm/SEO acting up.

    Well a lot of initial things with art is the fundamentals, if you want to be serious about it. A lot of that is self research and practice.
    Finding a style comes from trying out a bunch of different styles and finding what you like and dont like.

    This is just advice, but you can start by tracing or using a heavy reference to start. That way, you can build the visual library in your mind by repeatedly doing so.

    Every art tutorial and best practice makes it look easy, but under a different context, it can be very challenging.

    I also think tracing for personal practice can be helpful for the repetition, obviously for private study. Studying anatomy is very helpful. Like, straight up clinical anatomy. Other than that, color theory is a great topic to study and it also extends into UI and web design.

    Customizable menu buttons? Although I managed to do that with events (it was a hassle).
    Support for GIFs and Videos?

    I feel like animated screens will always have the advantage over static ones. No matter what.
    And yeah, everyone overusing Mog's particle effect, sometimes even a simple weather effect with animated background looks better than random particles.

    I'd like for one that would allow for graphics that are animated in frames and that would allow you to reposition those graphics using coordinates. I'm trying to make my title screen have an animated logo, and while I've achieved something I'm satisfied with using fade ins, I think I could make it even better with animated frames and repositioning of graphics.

    I think every hobby is going to have parts that are difficult to enjoy. I love making music, but I honestly hate coming up with melodies and (if the song demands for it) building a completely new patch for a synthesizer.
    You can always contract the work out if it's something you hate that much, no shame in that.

    I never really liked supervision or management. Which is why I no longer do it. And I don’t generally like working on teams. Unless I have complete and total control. For game making, I know what I want. If I could direct a team to do it, yup, I would try that.

    I honestly do wish I had a consistent team for my projects.
    For the most part I work alone on my game projects, but on some parts I get help from someone, it does happen rarely, cause I try to learn most things by myself, but if there's something I really can't do, I try getting help, but even then it's hard to find someone who is willing to help.
    Having burnout with my project, so i chose to do a side project. Which is replicating RMMV features in GMS2. Now i found new respect for RM lol


    Does it look better with bust or no?
    Also the bar and number above HP and MP is an aggro bar, i need other ways to represent it. Otherwise people will mistook it as atb :hswt:

    thoughts? revenue going to one address rather than another.... at best.
    at worst? limitation of 3rd party use of the engine, a new RPG Maker on the market, and no backwards compatibility.
    when it comes to corporations, you can never know..... I mean, I can read lawyer, but even poetry has a double meaning.

    Heck - I feel like that jm with just events! I started using comments after seeing Caz use them in her Cookie Cutter templates. What a difference!

    I tried a JavaScript class but got lost early on. :( I'm amazed at how much you can do with it though.

    @Trihan you have a good point there! I was thinking about it too, but in the game you need to choose what passive you bring to battle, and the passives are a bit 'complicated'. I want the players to have a reference just in case they forgot what passives they equipped :D wdy think about it?

    I did wonder if it was maybe a "check which one you have active" sort of thing.

    Hmm...it still doesn't sit right with me having that as a command. Personally I would make it a window that slides in from the side when you hold shift or something, but that might just be me.

    These auto-modes killed an entire gaming market already (hello new-gen mobile "gamers" - mobile watchers is the appropriate term nowadays).
    I flat out hate any kind of auto-pilot mode in any kind of game. >.>
    And I see more and more PC games also getting these modes. :LZSsad:
    I want to join MZ train but i havent created anything with MV yet.. and im just getting comfortable rewriting the base code. Decisions decisions.

    You can convert MV to MZ with just copy and paste. I think Tea from driftwood gaming has a tutorial about this. The animation and the plugins are not working after MZ from the conversion.
    It is really quickly for community plugin makers. I am really impressed on that fact.

    @ImaginaryVillain There's already plenty of content available for MZ especially including VisuStella which is headed up by Yanfly and Archeia. The MZ engine is very clearly better than MV as a base and Yanfly is already working on moving his plugin sets over on an official bases. You just don't like change lol.

    Oh you've got me! Truly I hate change and only do the most generic of JRPGs (as my game will show). Maybe I should branch out and try to push the envelop at least some! But change is bad, and scary! Perhaps you could help me uninstall these 200 Yanfly plugins, and install the entire VS library in my MZ trial instead. :LZSexcite:

I now officially hate moustaches.
I have a couple of NPCs who are important enough to need faces. I have learned that I can't really do moustaches, & now wish I'd never started this.
A sad day for me. A monitor that served me loyally for more than 5 years is getting replaced. It's begun to throw very large sparks.
