  • Finished switching to a new PC. Now I could potentially start working at projects or plugins again if I feel the motivation to do so.

    A different view on Motivation.

Edit: Congrats to the new PC.
Oh wow I was already always backing up my project, because I've read it in the forum so many times, but now I had to learn the hard way that this was not enough. I should back up everything I create not just my project. Installation kit for 1.5 has overwritten my hair gradients for the generator and I couldn't exactly recreate them, but got similar looking ones now.

Not only this, you should have a backup of a backup. I once deleted my current project folder thinking it was a backup and it wasn't. Luckily, I was able to restore that other backup, or I would have lost a significant amount of work.

YES! Backups of the backups, always. I learned this the hard way during my latest Skyrim mod build. I accidentally overwrote an important file, went to my backups folder and found that I had overwritten the same file there as well. I don't know how, but I did. So I started making 2nd and sometimes 3rd backup folders since then.
Wow I just never stop learning new things about the default engine. I didn't know that a battle is aborted when the timer runs out and this without a plugin. Propably because I've never used the timer before.
Oh man I wasn't using my graphic card all those years. My screen was only plugged in a plug that would use the CPU's internal GPU. Bought new HDMI cable and plugged it into the graphic card itself. Things where still not running smoothe. Also had to unplug the previous screen plug, cause computer decided to still use CPU instead of graphic card. I am like the biggest hardware noob on earth.
Thinking about buying Blue Reflection on Steam. With the 2nd game coming out on Switch I've got interested, but knowing Koei Tecmos recent treatment to the Atelier Series it is not unlikely that this game will get a definitive edition someday and then I will be mad at myself for buying it now. Also I'm not really a PC gamer, not having a controller and don't know how well it can be played with keyboard.
I don't know why, but I still have big problems with 'than' and 'then'. I always want to write 'Sweet tastes better then sour' instead of 'Sweet tastes better than sour'. I'm unsure if this is only in regards to comparison or if I would actually completely switch there meaning and write 'Okay than let's go to the cinema' instead of 'Okay then let's go to the cinema'.

Oh man, then I have problems with 'there' and 'their' I guess! That is sad as 'there' described a position and 'their' is a possessive pronoun. I guess this happens often if I write too fast without thinking too much.

I used to be really snobby about grammar, but eventually I came to realise that what's important is making your meaning clear, rather than using exactly the right words. That said, if you want to fix the issue, one way that might help you remember the difference is with one of the most common preference comparisons: "I'd rather x than y" remember the second letters are the same: rather, than.

I don't know if making little 'sayings' help you or not, but you could always try to remember it as 'than' has an 'a' because its is comparing two things against one another; 'then' has an 'e' because it refers to when some event will take place. :esad:
I was pretty much inactive for last couple of month, occasionally logging in and looking if there is a message for me. I was already thinking about saying good bye, but this would be sad. I really have a lot of fun here and don't want to miss it. I just can't think about anything interesting to talk about. Maybe I'll talk a little bit about myself here in the future.

I do a lot of lurking, too. What inspired you to make games?

mayb you can look into some plugins to make that doesn't exist yet, try and experiment,
or tr to create a game on your own and see how that goes, maybe you find something
intresting to add to the community?

but we are sad if you leave, specially the support of your plugins :)
mabe create a master demo with your plugins and how to use them effectively or once
way to use them nice to bring some idea's to others?

@Sausage_Boi I really didn't have any inspiration, I just wanted to try it out and MV happened to be on sale right at this moment.
In two days it's one year since I've restarted my project and what is left to do is the last chapter I designed before restarting. To be honest I didn't work all time on it. I also sometimes did month long breaks.

Yes I still work on it, whenever I feel like. I am still not sure if it ever gets finished.

If you keep working on it, eventually it would have to be finished, right?

Yes if I keep working on it, which is still the plan.
Oh man the controls in Mario Sunshine are pretty awful and I haven't even witnessed the controls without FLUDD

I was playing last night. I wouldn't say awful. Just dated and ported to a totally different controller. It took me a while to get used to it. I still keep accidentally pulling up the map when I mean to ground pound.
Just one day into the trial period of MZ and I already decided to definetely stay with MV. Just to much work went into my project. I should start working on it again.

You could always come back to it when you finish the game you are working on it. I plan to do that just so the library of plugins can grow and they can apply any bug fixes.

Is there an issue that you have? I have thousands of hours in MV and in my opinion MZ is very obviously a better program. There are so many little things that are better that I can't justify not using it. Not too mention that plugins will be pouring out soon with Yanfly working in an official capacity. Im sooo stoked for MZ.

@1Mustadio1 My MV project isn't finished, but if you ask for issues: I don't like much of the RTP outside of the new character generator parts. The new resolution changing option doesn't affect placement of enemies in battle. I've changed it to 1080p and the wolves where flying in the air in the upper left corner (Frontview Mode). I might still get MZ someday when it is 75% off.
Today I've cleaned my desk, that looked like a Gigantamax-Garbodor. Now it only looks like a Trubbish anymore.

Not if I put an Everstone on it and make sure it doesn't fight opponents, that can potentially knew moves, which can trade, steal, knock off or simply destroy items.
Last weekend I finished binch watching Dragon Ball. Now I decided to buy Kai and Super. I've already seen the original Z multiple times and with Kai I can familiarize myself with the voice actors of Super in my home country. Sadly GT isn't an option to buy in my home country.

Ever seen dbz:abridged? That's my canon, it fixes so much that is wrong with the original, alongside being absolutely hilarious. Shame it stops at the cell games though.

@Philosophus Vagus: Sorry I've read the word canon in regards to television series for the first time today. I've already read it a few times today and as my colleague also used it today it seems to be well known also here in germany. Still I don't known what it means. Could you please explain it to me? I just don't know a lot of well known stuff.

@BurningOrca canon means : the material accepted as officially part of the story in the fictional universe of that story.
I really miss the old style disney animated movies. I guess the last one was The Princess and the Frog from 2009. Now I am trying to collect every single one I can get on BD or DVD.

I'm sad that Princess and the Frog was considered a commercial failure at the time, since that was Disney's test to see if the traditional style would still sell when everyone was doing CG. I don't think it was the animation that did it in, I think it was being a PG movie with a G rating.

I concur with @Sharm . The animation on the flick was top-notch, especially the villain's sequences with the shadow creatures & the songs. Just sublime all-around- and it's all hand-drawn! (With computer aid, of course, but still frame-by-frame by hand!)

If it's any consolation, the Mickey Mouse shorts are still done by hand, albeit on a drawing tablet.
I should have better read usage restrictions of Kids Generator Parts. Obviously no adult content. In my first village there is a bar and now I can cut all alcohol reference.

Alcohol is only mature content. Adult content is NSFW. Meaning you're not allowed to make anime child porn.

And thanks to all for the clarification.

I always see a few people asking for C# in next engine and I always thought: Do I not know enough about that language to tell it will affect extensibility and customizability to the negative? Watching a video from SumRndmDde today I feel confirmed.
    FleshToDust
    FleshToDust
Since the next engine was announced people have a lot of questions. C# just being one of them. All the decisions have been made already though so people mentioning C# won't effect the final release. I'm sure it's still in JS.
    TheoAllen

@BurningOrca alias was a tradition since RGSS1. The question is if C# can do the same. Which is why it is better to be either JS or Ruby.

@TheoAllen Thank you for the information. Seems it is a common feature in scripting languages. I've already read Lua does have it, too. I pray it is JS or maybe TypeScript. I don't want to learn a new language either.
Had a little garden work to do today. During this the sun was constantly shining onto my neck and now I've got a burn. Perfect start into my holidays!
