  • I still do this kinda stuff and I think this came out really, really well. Solo violin really helps this piece shine.

Thanks Kes! I love remastering these pieces. Always have, always will. I have some others where a violin replacing the main strings was a great idea, but not sure if I want to post those demos yet. I might soon, though.
Well, I wanted to show off the work I've done with the RPG Maker DS Remaster I'm working on. When I only have a couple tracks left to go, I'll submit it for approval in the shop, but I also want to see if people even want it. Here's a preview!
Man, I wanna post a demo of some of the tracks from the remaster of RMDS I'm working on, but not until I get more done, so I know I don't get peoples hopes up like I did with RMXP...

And the major reason it's taking so long to finish this, even though there are far less pieces in RPG Maker DS than in XP is due to life getting in the way for me and my family. Still, working when I can and as quickly as I can while still maintaining high quality music. Hopefully I'll have a nice demo for listening to soon!
Slowly but surely chipping away at that RPG Maker DS music. I can't wait to finish it. I think everyone will like it. I've been working very hard to make it sound really good. Yes, I know there is a remastered version already split between the DS/DS+ resource packs, but they are...uh, done quickly and they don't have the ME's. When I get more of them rendered fully, I'll be showing a preview. Keep an eye out!
Looking at the Fes pack, it's a mess of tiles everywhere and redundancy. I was able to shrink 4 sheets into 1 with minimal effort...lordy.

@djDarkX Well, me and a few others actually did complain absolutely it in the support forum, shortly after it was released. But I don’t think the complaints reached the one responsible for the pack (which seems to be some Japanese person, not present on these forums).

Good to know. Sadly, though, probably still won't get anything to happen. I would have liked the updated iconset they used in Fes (which is Ace with some updated icons) and the UI, but I can recreate those without much issue just by running Fes on my N2DS and pixeling them as well as I can. lol

@djDarkX I’d would have liked to have them too. And yes, you could but I don’t think you want to copy the icons exactly since that would be plagiarism. The downside to them not being included is not only that we lack the material but also that they’re not covered by the license (even if we own the 2DS game).
Converting DS music to SNES is not easy. Sure, I can throw the music into a DAW with C700 and just say "done", but authentic SNES music ->

-> far more favorable, in my opinion. I'm converting music that can be anywhere from 6 channels to 16 channels...down to 8 with no polyphony. Along with watching that memory is not overflowed with the echo effects, lordy. Fun stuff!
Haha, that moment when you get the Steam version of RMVXAce to work in Linux using Steam Play (Proton) is great. :D
New laptop came in. Replacing my 10 year old Dell Inspiron 15 that I got for free years ago off a site called Freecycle. Mmm~

Well, the sad part of this little story was that the first unit that came in didn't work. It could be that the screen is not working, but I didn't feel like voiding the warranty on the first day of owning it, so I contacted Amazon for a replacement and they came through...after talking to about 5 people.

Ah, man that's no fun. At least you got it replaced. I love opening things up and voiding the warranty lmfao. Learned the hard way with that when I fixed a phone screen once. I'm still eyeing the asus tuff, but I'm undecided for a bit.
You know you need 32GB of RAM for your music projects when you reach 9.4GB on a single project with 15.3/16GB left with Chrome open...

You don't NEED it, but it means you could make use it. Running out of RAM will just slow down the system.

How could you even manage to make chrome took 15GB though?
    djDarkX
    djDarkX
No, no. Chrome took about 1.4GB and the project was 9.4GB. 3GB was cached for Windows, so we're up to about 13.8GB. The remainder was other programs being opened. Once I closed out Chrome, it gave me a bit more wiggle room. Still, quite a bit of space taken up. If I wanted to use EWQLSO Hollywood Diamond stuff, 32GB would be highly recommended since it takes much more for more accurate and realistic sounding music.
Ah, the RPG Maker DS music in beautiful high quality orchestration, and I don't mean from the old resource packs.

Well, taking the originals on the DS and remastering them my way. Just about an hour out of my day to make the victory theme sound epic. Since the Fes resource pack includes them, I can finally remaster the ME's from DS. Now, if only they'd the same for the DS+ exclusive BGM's and ME's...

Yeah, when Fes came out, I was really happy, but I got busy with life, so nothing came of it, but since things have settled down and I'm getting motivated to work on music again, I have started working on the DS music and some other stuff. Feels good.

You know, due to still working with the SNES audio format, after finding a new tool last year, quality has gone up. Precision really helps.

    what tool?

I was before using a tool called XMSNES to create authentic SNES music in the SPC format, but this new one, called it2amk is much better. Allows for better precision of instruments and a cleaner sound from said music. Really, it sounds exactly as it should, which makes me happy. Plus it's easier for me to work with, for the most part.
Been a while since I've been on here, but I've given game dev a rest. Just playing Guild Wars 2 and spending time with the girlfriend.
If you're still working on RMXP remasters, can I request Field 3 next?
I have been engulfed in Guild Wars 2 again so much that I don't even lurk here...must work on that.

It's taarna.3016, I think. I literally just logged out for bed and I'm not logging back in to check, haha. If that's not it and I go and forget all about it, just ping me on here again and I'll find out. X3

Whew... I've been on a tear recently. Been working nonstop. Feels really good to be back in the groove! I think it's because I can finally see the end approaching. I only have 8 more side quests to develop (then NPCs, some art, then pretty much done).
how the hell do i change my username???
So imagine this but autotile. Stained glass ocean.
