  • After a bazillion test plays, I think I've finally gotten to a point where I feel satisfied with the balancing of my game...now time to comb out any lingering bugs and I can officially call it completed!
Just when I thought I was "done" with Demon Hunter, I decided to extend the finale of the game to not make it seemed so rush...2.5+ years of work wasn't enough I guess! XD
Good grief...I would be so screwed without my awesome test players...they are always finding things that I never would have. I can't wait until I get all the bugs/errors combed out of my game so I could officially release it! :o
My school is full of crap! Because I will be officially graduating in the summer, they say I won't receive my Distinctions (gold tassel) even though I have a 4.0! #RAGE

A distinction is to prove that you were in the top of your class, so they give you gold tassels for your graduation gown and put your name in a special category in the graduation pamplets. I worked my butt off to get perfect A's in every class and they won't recognize it because I'm taking my last 6 credits in the summer, which disqualifies me from all that fancy stuff.

So just because your graduating early, you dont get the gold tasles? BS!! Cant you just buy some anyway? :p
I have done it...after 2.5+ years, Demon Hunter is finally complete! Now, all I need is a few beta/bug testers to help me uncover any bugs or balancing issues and I can officially release it as completed! :D *Sigh of relief*

That is really quite the accomplishment. I've seen some bits and pieces of the work and I'll definitely put it on my list of games to play.
I am 99% done with my game, but I just can't figure out exactly how to end it! Ahhhhh----!!!

@Sonic...I like the way you think! :D

@Raider: Indeed, it's like...how do I finally wrap up what I've been working on for over 2 years and make it worthy!?

@Wyn: I've contemplated keeping the ending somewhat open-ended with a possible sequel if it got popular enough...hmmmm!

So, is it a matter of allowing for multiple endings? or is it a matter of choosing the wording and actions for the ending you've already decided upon?

@Onomotopoeia: Just a single ending, but yeah, deciding on the wording and action on how to wrap it all up. Like, I know what I want to create, but I just can't find the way to present it correctly.
Made a small piano playing puzzle in my game through eventing where the player hears the sounds and then has to repeat them. Much proud, very like, such puzzle!

Congrats! I'm a long way from finishing myself, but seeing this reminds me that as long as I don't give up, it's possible. Can't wait to see your game! :)

Well done. Getting a game to release is hard work, so I'm not surprised you're feeling proud.

I HATE YOU REALITY!!! I SPIT IN YOU FACE!!!
That "moment" when your players LOVE the drag-queen outfit that they can earn in your game so much that they never take it off once earning it... :p
After about 14 months of working on my project, I am finally close to pushing it out to BETA for bug testing before submitting it into the completed games section! *Giddy Squeal*

Good job. The end of a journey always tends to be bittersweet.

Matseb, you helped me stick to it and not go venturing off into project idea #2, 3, 4, 5...etc... Thank you for your words of encouragement! ^_^
Anybody know of any tutorials on how to properly use the High Fantasy tiles? Apparently I'm too nooby to figure it out myself. Can't even make a road for crying out loud lol...

lolz I find it easiest to parallax map with those resources.

You know, that's what I was thinking. I'm got indoors down pretty well, but trying to make a simple neighborhood with trees, roads, etc is really making me want to rip my hair out lol.
So, just when I get fairly decent at mapping with VXACE style maps, I go and get myself involved in the PV Games high fantasy tiles, and it's like learning to map all over again. Took me like 2 hours to create a simple livingroom that leads to a bedroom whereas I could have done a full on lush forest in that time with the other type of mapping! -_-
Spent about 6 hours last night combining resource tilesets to make use of every last square in the High Fantasy/PV Games tile sheets. Now that I finished that daunting task, time to continue mapping! :D
Note to Self. When creating new games, make sure the story isn't so terribly long since I know I have commitment issues when it comes to completing projects...stick to 5-6 hour games instead of aiming for 10-15, kthx... -.-

I have that problem too of sticking with something. I want mine to be 3-5 hours.

I intended the main game I'm currently working on to have "6 big major bad guys" with about 10-15 towns, and some dungeons thrown in. I'm at bad guy #4, and sitting here thinking. "Goodness, had I stuck to MAYBE 4 or 5 big bad guys instead, I'd be almost done by now!"

That always happens to me. Before I am doing anything I am writing the story, but I made it pass the intro and got new games which have distracted me. Besides a very heavy intro the story gets smaller.
