Gives up on what is a great game because crafting is too hard for you? Your loss :p

I'm in the same club when it comes to crafting. Although to be fair, DQ11 is one of the only games where the mechanic hadn't bothered me as much.
If a game had a moral-choice system at the beginning 3 chapters where defeating an on-screen encounter grants a "-2" at the end of the level whereas evading it granted "+2" at the end of the chapter, and then each chapter also had a dialogue choice that'd give/take points depending on the answer the player gives, how many points would you expect to gain from the dialogue choices?

@TRIDIUM sorry, third one took a bit to type out
    TRIDIUM

    That's fine!
I guess make it so if you made the "bad" choice, you could even it out by going for the good one on the other two, and vice versa

@TRIDIUM yuppers. In fact, just having typed these out allowed me to decide for myself what values to assign each choice (First will be +1/-1, Second will be +5/-5, Third will be +9/-9).
    Which would be worse?
    • A Mass Effect where Shepard's classes are dumbed down to a Skill Tree and the squadmates are downgraded to being mechanics-less NPCs who follow you around to talk to but otherwise disappear during combat, OR...
    • A Mass Effect where you only have access to the Squadmates in both story and gameplay; Shepard just straight-up doesn't exist.

Wouldn't a skill tree be more complex than simple tracks you drop points into?

both options tackle different bones that I had to pick with Mass Effect.
one, that I couldn't play with mind powers and pistols combined, and I couldn't use snipers for some reason (bug probably), and the other, that I couldn't go on missions alone, that I couldn't not-use the tank in some missions (awful driving style) and that the NPCs would often block my way.
Afterlife Rabbits: "Thou art gone, thy life has fled; all shall now bewail the dead... No more flesh and no more bone, no more troubles to bemoan"

Me: "this kind of a bop, ngl"

It's not F***KING HEALTHY that I only have creative energy if everyone in my family is either asleep or not home. It's not F***KING HEALTHY to have this much creative indecision and paralysis.

I gave ONE F**KING SWITCH a name in the evening last night; now it's the next day, and that ONE F**KING SWITCH having a name-- SOMETHING PLAYERS DON'T EVEN SEE, AND CAN BE DELETED WITH A SINGLE KEYSTROKE --is tempting me to throw out the ENTIRE F**KING ITERATION of the project!

@Alador Kind of? I've definitely calmed down, but today's just been absolutely plagued with exceptionally bad luck.

STEAL THIS RPG MAKER IDEA: Inspired by Preach Gaming's "Drama Time" series, a simulation made in RPG Maker where you create, recruit members for, and manage a Raiding Guild of an MMORPG, with the Actors being procedurally generated representations of the players within the guild, with RPG Maker's stats representing traits pertinent to raiding in an MMO.
If I had a dollar for every newly-released film I saw last week where the climactic finale took place in a stadium-- involved the stadium getting utterly demolished --I'd have two dollars. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened in two otherwise VERY different films in such a short time span.
Me when I have Writer's Block: "I shouldn't even have RPG Maker open until I've fully penned out the layout and setpieces in advance."

Me when I don't have Writer's Block: *Completely ignores that advice and just throws maps together, coming up with setpieces that come to mind along the way*

I'm in this picture and I don't like it XD

But seriously, I'm right there with you. It's this awful cycle of "can't write til I know the setting, can't know the setting til I write." One of these days I'll just throw planning out the window and just start somewhere.
So after completing the Mass Effect Trilogy the first time as a Vanguard, I decided to replay the trilogy as a Soldier. Thus far, I've just finished the Horizon mission in ME2, and I'm already exhausted from ME2's f**k-awful enemy design.
So I've been playing through the Mass Effect Legacy Collection lately, and even though I'm only at the 2nd game, boy howdy do I have a lot to say; I wanna say about 85% of it is positive, while the remaining 15% is going to be either negatives or damning with faint praise.

By far my favorite game series of all time, and the Legacy version, especially for ME1, made it that much better. The elevator loading screen wait decrease in itself made this girl very, very happy, and it just looks and plays so much better! Enjoy!

As of several minutes ago, I have completed ME2 and plan to move on to ME3... after I eat breakfast and take a little post-breakfast nap.
Thanos: "ANT-MAN?! He's supposed to be DEAD!"

The Quantum Realm, sweating nervously: "Yeah, weird..."

The Soul Stone, deadpan: "You wanted half, you got f***ing half. No refunds."
NGL, as much as I love MV's RTP tilesets, I highkey really miss VX Ace's RTP character sprites, especially the ones you could make yourself in the character sprite maker. Several of the clothing options in VX Ace that didn't make it into MV were perfect for my project's tone (endearing/hilariously Uncanny Valley faces notwithstanding).
With my project, I want the player to have access to all the tools they need to get from New Game to Credits as soon as possible; I want the player's progress to only be impeded by the player not knowing how to use the tools the game provides.
Well, rats. Was really looking forward to trying out FPS Creator, but trying to install and set it up was pretty much impossible for my tiny brain to comprehend. So much for that, then.

Know the feel, there's a reason why I use RPG maker to begin with :p Everything can be learned ofc, if we only bother to :p

I have a working theory, if I'm going to learn any other game creation software... I'm not going to waste time with another specialized limited one. I'll just learn either Unity or Unreal and be done with it. Probably Unity since it's better with 2D, though Unreal comes with an insane amount of free assets.
i want to make videogame, though i am burned out on games with RPG elements, but the only gamedev tool i know how to use is rpg maker. :/

Oh, there's also SMILE Game Builder on Steam, which lets you make fully 3D RPGs in either top down or first person perspectives; works almost like RPG Maker, but with a few less options. There's also a dedicated tactical RPG game maker on Steam (lets you make Fire Emblem like games) which I think is called SRPG Studio.

Obviously a game created with RPG Maker does not necessarily have to have RPG elements, others have already given you options: but if you want something other than that, you could try creating an arcade game.

I just saw someone's post that had an instagram link. I have yet to be able to open that site up once, ever, or have an embed of it work (it just straight up won't show either of them). And I haven't really found a reason to try to fix the problem, either XD
I want to go play piano now. This is gonna be my stopping point today (yes, I’m very slow at drafting). Might have a few too many curly Qs? Obviously gotta finish the limbs and clean up. There are a few more outfit details I need to add. Probably going to do a background so that the pose makes sense, LOL.

Do you believe me now?

BTW not my insta, not my post. Different John.
It's been long time since last I'm tinkering with RPG Maker ~
