  • Is it too early to prepare for Unite?
Knowing myself if I start something in MZ or MV and Unite comes out, I will want to jump into that and potentially face a lot of trouble having to redo stuff. Would it be better to focus on the things I can do now (worldbuilding, writing, maybe dabble in upscaling a few MV/MZ sprites) and just prep for when Unite actually comes out?

Considering that they haven't narrowed down the estimated release date to anything other than a year (which is already almost over), I'd say that it's probably not actually coming out any time too soon. And then like TheoAllen said, after it does finally release, it'll take some time before it actually gets good. Might as well start working in something else for now.

Rather, decide if you will keep jumping to the newer engines as they come out.
I struggled 3 months after MZ's release, whether or not to switch to it. And decided, that I will forever stick with MV.
Now I don't struggle with these decisions anymore. (Since my mind is made up.)

I believe a good option is to evaluate your project and consider if RPGM Unite's new features will really influentiate your game development.

If yes, I would focus the work on things that doesn't really require the software, like the story, and later jump to Unite when it gets released.

If not, I would just make the full game in an older rpg maker engine.

"The sun glinting off your hair matches the sun glinting off my armor. Since we already have something in common, might I learn your name as well?"

Ahh, chivalric courting at its finest!
How many RPG maker games out there have voiced characters and do you think it adds something to the game or no?

On a completely related note, where do I find people to do voices?

I played a RM mv game with voices but the quality between different characters was inconsistent, some lines was not voiced and so on (I don't remember the name but the hero name was Alucard) in this case I was thinking : there is a lot of efforts put in this game but it feels spoiled

That would feel very jarring I imagine. I still feel like it *could* be a great thing - *if* done properly. I am just curious if there's good examples out there.

VA can add a lot to a game but only if done right. Dont really know of any rpgmaker games that have done it right though...
I am doing a complete overhaul of my game in preparation for a move to MZ.

These last couple of days have been spent trying out a few new ideas that I feel will be a great addition to what I already have without exploding the scope of the game (too much).
In a narrative Choose Your Own Adventure-style RPG, do you prefer the narrative to be in 2nd person ("you saw", "you thought"), or 3rd person ("he saw", "he thought")?

    What's your preference, and why?

I prefer third person because it makes me feel closer to the protagonist. However, there aren't many that use third person. Idk about other people but I prefer not to take on the role myself (even though it's choose your own adventure) I just enjoy navigating a character and watching him/her go on about their journey. That's more interesting to me :) How about making a thread with a poll in general discussions?

2nd person cuz narration in ttrpgs be that way

I actually prefer first person for all protagonists, whether it be a blank slate choose your own adventure, or something more kinetic.
What I need is not ideas. It's something that actively prevents my brain from pursuing those ideas when I am already committed to something else.

That or those pills from Limitless that allows me to focus to the point of becoming supernatural...

Need that idea that weathers the test of time, or discipline.
Neither come easy; I too know that feeling.

Hope you had a great vacation. Because thee vacation is your vacation, and the previous vacation is a dumb vacation but that vacation is a better vacation and your vacation is your vacation is on your vacation.

Today I travel back to the 1920'ies to save the world from the Crawling Chaos, God of a Thousand Forms; Nyarlathotep. Pray for my sanity!
I would like 30 hours in my day, or a chest filled with enough rubies (or other treasure) so I can skip work and focus on writing all day.

But you know... Having that many rubies in your chest would stop your heart from beating for sure... :p

You still have to have lungs, stomach, intestines, prostate and other organs necessary for both life and reproduction. If you miss these as well, then you're probably already dead.
So tired I can't even think straight. And there's still 5 more hours before I can leave work. Just shoot me now.

My trick is coffee. Lots of coffe.

I did live. But I'd rather avoid such workdays in the future. Thank the gods above and below for the upcoming holidays. Never have I needed it more.

Stimulants are so tricky. I don't believe in using them myself, I don't think they're ever healthy, but I totally understand why someone else would choose differently and I respect that. Good luck detoxing! I hope you're one of the people who don't get caffeine triggered migraines.

Ordered clothes online. Now the fun wait to see if what I ordered is actually made for dolls or designed to fit an entire couch.

@Wavelength Without opening up a debate around this, let me just say that in my country, calling someone a dwarf could be considered insulting, which is why I opted for another word :)

But thanks for telling me. I'll keep in in mind for the future.

Oi! Yeah. Words for people can be an utter minefield. 'Dwarf' is fine (and way better than midget) in most English-speaking countries but not in yours, and admittedly 'little person' could either refer to someone who is merely short with a slight frame, or someone with actual dwarfism. Minefield. *starts walking away and blows up*

I've been working furiously on a small demo slice. But with King Slime so busy assets have been slow to form. No matter! I've got the demo for rpgmaker MZ and I'm using the 20 days to make a short and sweet demo game of fighting alongside your rival/boyfriend hehe Kind of like a mini challenge to myself
Yes my images are back ^^, hopefully they won't disappear again.:kaoangry:
It's Sunday. Stop working and take a break. Relax a little.
