I played through a few hours of The Book of Shadows and left my thoughts on its thread: http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/32221-the-book-of-shadows-chapters-1-and-2/?p=323916
This concludes this round of the secret santa. I don't think I'll be hosting...
I played this game for a few hours and here's my feedback on what I saw:
Why in god's name is this file 712 mb? Figure out a way to cut down your filesize (don't include the files you aren't using), or else you're going to turn off players from playing this game before they've even downloaded...
Bugfix for Tess ver 220.127.116.11
There was a major memory leak in how the game was trying to detect if the player had a gamepad connected in the last release that would most likely bring the player's computer to a grinding halt if they weren't using a gamepad.
The download's been updated to fix...
Now you can play Tess with a gamepad! Details on the gamepad controls have been added to the game's description (and to the included readme file).
ver 18.104.22.168 (October 11, 2014)
+Gamepad support added
You can grab the latest version here.
Sure, we can do another round.
Okay, everyone has finished playing and reviewing their assigned games, so I declare Round 2 officially over.
This means we're beginning Round 3 now. The sign up period begins now and will end on October 10th, 11:59pm UTC time.
Thanks for the review! I do have some questions about some of the comments you made though.
Did you play the entire game with only 1 hand? I normally play with 2 hands myself, one for the arrow keys/movement and one for the jump and shoot buttons. Also the need to jump and shoot at the same...
Tess version 22.214.171.124 released!
You can grab the new version here.
Finally finished putting together this patch.
Achievements have been added to the game now, and are compatible with GameJolt/sync up with GameJolt. Also, “Mirror Mode” was added, which unlocks when you get 5 achievements...
The keys can be changed via the Escape menu, as it says in the OP (and in the readme included with the game).
But I'm glad you enjoyed it! There will most likely be a sequel made, given its warm reception.
Oh whoops the signup period ended yesterday, didn't it.
Round 2's assignments have been posted in the OP. Please play your assigned game and leave a review for the developer by October 7th, 11:59pm UTC.
EDIT: Ok nerd-vs-game ninja'd me here so I have to adjust the matchings now.
Doing clean-up on tall-ified sprites, filling in pixel by pixel where the stretching warped the image, feels incredibly tedious but also highly rewarding when one zooms out and the sprite looks even better than before.
I'm going back to the default RTP, in the interest of getting it done. FSM is lovely but slow to work with and has tall doors. And switching to tall sprites would mean a lot of franking, and also the horses will be small.
