  • I might have to redesign parts of two dungeons. I get terribly annoyed playing them which is not a good sign.

Better ask someone else to test it instead.

Make as said @kovak and consider that if you've tested a lot of times the dungeons you made, that can happen. I felt like that once and my testers said it was perfect.
But naturally, you can always improve what you've done.
I think people put way too much emphasis on mapping these days. Gameplay and story trumps! Badly made parallax map may even hinder movement.

Totally agree. The craze was intimidating for me when I first decided to make a game. The thing is, I see that a lot of games aren't really balanced in terms of what they offered, as Poryg mentioned. Seems like Parallax mapping serves best as a way to make your project thread look appealing. lol.

If you can get the same result with better arranged tiles, do it. It'll load better, the game will be smaller and you may be able to use it more than once.

yeah, I agree on that. It's the gameplay that really matters.
I'm still forced to use a lot of edited stock graphical assets in my main project. Gotta complete it in this century -.-

That's why I used RTP too. I figure it's the only way to finish the game before 2030 without spending $50,000+ to make the game.

I have thought about using rm2k3 stuff, because there are lots of free and pretty graphics for this rpg maker. But then the fact that they're 16x16 compared to mv's 48x48 kind of scares me off...
I kind of miss the good ol' rm2k3... The rtp wasn't too beautiful, but the resources were bountiful as time advanced.
It seems that I might be able to keep my home after all. Phew! Now work, work, so I can get this game ready!

I have been there. I won't go into detail, but being homeless is often brutal.

Glad that it worked out for ya.
Just lost my home :S Not sure how I'm able to work now. I may have to keep a forced break and hope for a new roof above my head.

I could go to my sister, but she drinks 24/7. Not exactly a good environment to work or stay sane. Gotta figure out if I could find some sort of institution for help.

At least I managed to do the backup copies for my game now. As long as I have the memory stick in my pocket and the files in cloud storage, my dreams are safe.
Apparently I don't like making games, because my first game has bad mapping at times.

Ha, you should of seen Versus Minimus, my first mini-game I made on RM PSX; it was so mismatched that one couldn't tell where they were going, or where to go!

Pre-made maps for the EPIC FAIL.

I don't believe there's an equals sign between "My first game has bad mapping at times" and "Apparently I don't like making games"!

Yeah, that's what I thought too! Some people can be very unreasonable at times.
Breath of the Wild is getting perfect scores everywhere! I couldn't be more happy as an old Zelda fan.

Nice to see some change in the forums from time to time. Cool trophies! And now it's possible to edit the update status :)
Just created an intro cutscene to my game- for the fifth time. It's starting to feel routine.

I usually plan it out in a .txt file, but don't really get that part going until I've completed a good portion of the game.

Though, for the latest project, that part is up to my friend who is going through a harsh crisis...
I implemented an anti lag script on top of another. The game runs better than ever, but I'm worrying a lot about possible conflicts -.-

I know one thing about anti-lag...

It doesn't do much if your processor and RAM are sub-par...

I've got a pretty good computer for Vx Ace games- I think. Now it seems I managed to find a permanent fix for the constant problem I've had with lagging. The framerate stays at 58-60 no matter what I implement. It feels almost like a miracle after all the struggling :-D
I seriously abhor all the fake reviews for my games :-S I 'd rather take an honest, constructive negative review than a bunch of "positive" reviews from players who have barely even touched the games.

Yeah, many of the people who write fake reviews have apparently reviewed free copies. They're not actually reviewing the games, it's just thumbs up or down.

Of course, I'm still satisfied enough how the games turned up. They're not the best out there, but on the other hand I made them all directly after another and was practicing the basics as I went. And of course, there are also those authentic positive reviews which give me the motivation to go on!

*Buys all the PVGames assets, ends up creating his own ground tiles.* At least I used the other types of graphics? Right? :kaoswt:
