    The only problem at all that I have with DQ8 is that it has the slowest battles for a Dragon Quest game. Mainly because of loading times. However, slow for a DQ is still really fast compared to most RPGs. DQ8 is still faster than FF9, at least. I once read that a FF4 battle can be completed in the time it takes a FF9 battle to load.
    I love seeing others work; it's an awesome way to get motivated!

    I find, in the case of Celiana, where you do livestreams of yourself, you care more about the audiencem almost like you are performing the perfection of tile based miraculosy! :3
    Decided to add a little secret type thing to the side-project where if you talk to all the snowmen you get a reward, I get half-way through only to be told that's what SSP did. >_>

    Some people will, some people won't care. Doesn't matter if it's been done before as long as your iteration feels different and it feels like it fits with the game as a whole. Focus less on what people may think and focus more on making the game fun.

    Debating whether to have enemies drop gold or just make it so they drop stuff like pelts for you to sell/synthesize. Opinions?

    I find it fun to sell pelts, teeth, bones whatever, but from my experience players may bug you about it as some don't think of selling to make money...

    I've made the decision of selling the materials, and I've added in "[Profitable]" to their description for those who need it. xD


    But yeah, that's what I thought. It'd be weird for, say, a slime, to be carrying round a weapon or something.

    Decided to spend one or two days every week to work on a side-project comprised of nothing but RTP. Mainly for keeping interest, but a little for the simplicity. (I honestly prefer RTP over many custom resources, for some reason.)

    Okay, I lied a little; it's going to include some extra scripts. Only a few, though; Yanfly's Battle Engine+Target Info, Save, etc. just to give it some more flavour.


    Graphics-wise, it's fully RTP, though.

    Managed to have Jade Empire finally run on my 360, only I can't play it for long as I intend on working on The Breeze most of today.
    Finally got my blog up n' running. Anyone mind checking it out and telling me what you think? It's only got two posts right now, but I'm more interested in if you like the overall look.

    Toast, a hot drink and either it being quiet or favourite music playing is definitely a help for having motivation to work on a game. (At least, for me that is.)

    I have to be careful with my music. Sometimes I'll just zone out when an amazing song is playing. Yeah, more plot is made that way, but I'm not working on my game :\
    I can't seem to map big towns! >_> Ah, I'll figure something out. Until then, back to Devil Survivor 2!

    There probably won't be that many overlays at all in the game I'm working on; I don't like parallax mapping, and there'd probably only be some lighting or the like anyway. xD

    my last weeks paycheck is almost entirely gone :..(
    The town I'm working on is so big it has to be split into five different maps, each varying between 37*33 to 53*45. I'm trying to create a realistic big town, but it's actually quite hard! >.<
    It's really foggy outside, and I'm in the UK. I keep seeing stuff related to "Hurricane Sandy" hitting the US, though? Damn, hope everyone's going to be okay.
    Found my Mortal Kombat 3 game on PSX last night and gave it a playthrough. All I can say is: Motaro. >_>
    Listening to Plain White T's whilst figuring out more stuff for The Breeze. Mostly stuff for traits of the characters, skills, damage formula and other such stuff. This makes me happy. :3
    Gah, I feel stupid. Just spent the last two minutes looking for the game drive topic, only to realise I was on the wrong site. >_> ah well. xD

    I was on rpgmakervxace.net, which looks almost identical to these forums in a way (minus the initial banner and such.)


    I just keep getting mistaken for the forums.
    Tomorrow's going to be a busy day. >.< I still have Insanity to finish off for the 31st, too!
    I suck at writing decent dialogue. Trying to have an intelligent adult have a conversation with the player and it turns out more of the usual conversation. I need variance, but I just can't seem to get it right.

    Nah, I haven't wrote it in yet. I've been trying to work it out through notepad; writing a form of dialogue for each character, if you get what I mean.

    Notepad: the most useful application I know. And the most simple, too. xD
    Trying to think of algorithms and such to make battles more interesting. Also, come to a conclusion that all characters start off with a buff and debuff, along with enemies start off with the same (and some with state-inducing attacks, etc.) This should help make battles not a case of "attack, attack, attack" but more a case of strategy. Opinions?

    Whatever makes the player use skills.


    Maybe add some skill that can get arid of states? I.E, break: remove "ready" buff from an enemy- decreasing their stats by 10%. Can be used 5 times. :3

    Yeah, that's basically the idea.


    I'm thinking about whether to get it so that you can use something like "Strengthen Attack" (example of increases attack of character) to be able to be used more than once, adding onto it for about 3-4 times. I'll also be adding items for stuff like that too, in case characters run out of MP!

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
