    It basically allows you to change database stuff without having to manually go through all references anywhere else (like event maps), since it takes care of that itself. :)

    To clarify - the script/plugin won't do changes for you, but it can be used to pinpoint all the locations where you will need to make changes.
    I have to admit, I was very disappointed on Friday when I experienced/saw all those bugs in MV. But once you accept that you're actually part of an open beta, it's not that bad. :) I like how the staff here handle bug reports.

    The problem with the bugs is that they didn't occur for the beta testers therefore there was no way of fixing something that you didn't see ^^

    Yeah, the smaller your beta testing group, the more bugs are likely to be missed. But even with a very large group, there are still always going to be some that make it through.

    Oh man, I can't beliebe how buggy MV is. I can't set a single trait! And the language also can't be changed. Disappointing. :/

    The trait deal is a bug, I haven't got such bug, but it has some annoying lag in the database. Also it's quite odd that people with hardware 10x better than my laptop are having the same or even worse problems.
    Subterranean Starfield: How do I customize my settings? I can't seem to find a way to enter that optons menu. :D

    Onion Knight can be gotten via an easy sidequest relatively early in the game. There's also a secret dungeon called "???" if I'm not mistaken.


    And yes, it's good. :) I mean, it's old, it doesn't have a great story, but it was fun. I enjoyed it!

    Right, I mean, was it "the one with Kefka" (lololol ancient GameFAQs joke) or the REAL FF3. But I just saw it. How is it (or the Vita version) different from the DS remake? I liked it, but it was disappointing to fight only two to three enemies at a time... :(

    Another thing I didn't like about the DS remake was that they butchered the endgame dungeons, starting with the Cave of Shadows. Not only was it shorter, floor layouts were even repeated. Why not just use the original layout, like for every other dungeon in the game? Also, the Ancients' Maze wasn't even really a maze anymore, just a long path that zigzags...
    Enemy ATK: 2, Player DEF: 1. Damage formula: a.atk/(1+b.def/10), Variance: 10. The player ALWAYS takes 2 damage. Damage formula: a.atk/(1+b.def*0.1) Variance: 10. The player takes 1 damage. It seems to be always, but well, the variance is pretty low, maybe it just didn't go up to 2 or more. But why is that? Why is /10 not the same as *0.1?

    Something I just came to think about: I have never experienced that when testing my game, but is it even possible to have pre-emptive or surprise attacks when using the Battle Processing command?
    For some reason, I can't use the @ symbol in the script editor of Ace. Any ideas why that is? You need that one for instance variables, right?

    That's because the shortcut for alt is used to comment out code, who knows why.


    Use alt + 64 to type @ in the editor.

    The RPG Maker VX Ace default battle system feels a little bit like Earthbound's sped up. After playing Earthbound for a while and returning to RPG Maker games, I was like: Wow, this is awesome!

    earthbound is a masterpiece, but the sequel MOTHER3, is even better, actually made me cry at one point :S, also such a good soundtrack
    A skill has a chance of 20% to cause state A and a chance of 30% to cause state B. What is the total chance of the skill to cause a state? (If you can, please provide a formula for x states the skill can cause.)

    In the case of independent chances, you have to use a formular from the negative side: the chance, not to have a state.


    Chance of (not getting a state) is (100%-20%) * (100%-30%) * (100%-x%), in this specific case 80%*70% = 56%


    Or the chance of gaining any state would be 44% if you have one chance of 20% and one chance of 30%.


    This works only with independent chances (i.e. there would be a 6% chance to have both states), for other conditions you'll end up with differ...

    For me, it's the other way around: I hate being able to save ALL the time, because I ... SAVE ALL THE TIME! :D
    Is there a term for quests that you gradually fulfill in the course of the game? For example, if you're asked to collect stuff scattered all around the world.

    If you need scripting support you can try the "RGSSx Script Support" section. There's plenty of very good scripters that can help you out.

I kept saying I suck at writing stories. But I can't believe I wrote one these days. Feels good now that the winged blonde girl I often share has an actual lore and plot going.
Huge breakthrough! I finally fixed the dimensions on the WEBM used in the cinematic that ends the demo and introductory segment in MC:RIS, around the one-minute mark:



(There's some audio desync because the capture is an MP4.)
Kudos to everyone making game jam games, because this month has been hell for my development time. I have made a cutscene, 2 sprites, and 1 tile.

I guess I've made conceptual progress in hammering out combat roles and having fixes to be implemented (though I haven't done that yet)
