  • Y'know, I find XP somewhat difficult to map as compared to the future installations lol.

Could it be because it's more tile by tile rather than an auto tiled system of later versions?

Autotiles are nothing if not convenient

It's moreso the number of tiles VXA (for example) allows on a single tileset. Like, in that one, you have tileset tab A, B, C, D, and E so it's easy to mix and match. XP feels a lot more restrictive though I guess perhaps the workaround is to just combine certain tilesets.
XP's tilesets (the ones with houses and roofs) still confuses as I'm looking at them, especially the roof part. I miss the organization of the tilesets in future installations lol (using XP for specific reasons for my current project).

I prefer a non specific arrangement of tiles as it is the case in XP. Freedom at all cost, you might say. :D

I vastly prefer the XP ones--I hate having a limited amount of space for one type of thing that I can't use for a different thing if I want to. But I will agree that setting up the roofs to work correctly on your own tilesets has a frustrating learning curve XD
I learned recently that the scripts shown in Help are semi-hard-coded default scripts that you can edit by copy/pasting it in your Script Editor. I don't know why it never dawned on me that, that was a thing, but now I know! Kind of odd it's hidden in the help section.

Mate, I just discovered that with this post. Never thought of looking into that...

In VX Ace? Yeah, they do expose some of the top-level part of the implementation in the help sections. There are some .rb files you can find online that expose parts that aren't, too.

I'm using XP. Learning this new thing allowed me to change semi-hard-coded things like the text color of the damage values, add a Critical Fail feature where it says "Critical fail!", and most importantly (main reason I wanted to find something like this), allowed me to show damage values done to SP (equivalent to MP for RMXP).
Welp, my graphics card died, so now I'm on my other PC but don't have another copy of my project. Time to start a side project in the meantime XD (shouldn't take *too* long to save the $$$ to get the GPU replaced)

That sounds poopy. I would contact Gforce tho, it seems like a 3090 shouldn't die so soon after release. I bet it's a manufacturing defect.

Too late. Already ordered another. This time, I have a 4yr warranty where I only had 1 yr warranty last time.

I recently learned that RMXP requires "$" to make a global variable/switch in the script itself unlike VXA which now makes many of my needs extremely easy now that I finally learned how to make global variables/switches.

@Shaz If you remove the $ in VXA, it'll still read as a variable (that's how I did many of my VXA variables via script). XP comes up as an error.

    is it global though?
    Lord Vectra

@Shaz I was speaking to a friend, and it's called Constant though it can act like a global variable. They apparently exist in XP too but *seems* like it has to be all caps.
What Antivirus do some of you use?

I was asking because Avast has this need to always take up memory, and it literally stops YOU from disabling it from YOUR background, and yknow what I hate? Programs acting like they own your PC. Like, bruh, you're on my PC. You're in my domain, sir.

Jokes on you, that is basically Windows.

That's a tad different because Windows is basically my PC's organs. They get a pass.
You know whats exhausting? Dealing with uncooperative people in an environment that requires cooperation.

You'd never believe how many times I would deal with selfish players that mess the entire team up because they want the glory or to prove they are better than everyone else. He-loo? You won't prove anything if we fail, so get off your high horse!:kaoangry:

Sometimes forums just malfunction and don't register you've changed something, have you tried uploading it again? :)
Or maybe you forgot to click on Okay and just closed it last time, so it didn't save the change . . . I've done that before XD

If that doesn't work, I'd say to click Delete current avatar, save with no avatar, than upload the new picture :)

I personally hate them and will use Avery's instead, but I'm not going to have a problem with others using them. Do what you want, it's your game.

I don't like them either. Avery's are so much prettier. But I can see why some people might like them; they are a lot simpler after all and need less details.

They're not bad, just simple. I'd use them if they matched the game's colors or style.
