  • Finally got my hands on Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight and what a game! Awesome Darksouls inspired gameplay and magnificent art. Makes me proud for it being made by a fellow Brazilian dev.
After a really long time without drawing a single line, I think I can say that I'm having a little progress over here.

But I definitely need a lot of more practice to get the hand back.

I didn't knew Disney had made a movie about how our cat, Kiara, wakes us up every single morning.

Playing the Persona series (Persona 4, precisely) for the first time ever and..."Whoa." is the best word in my vocabulary to describe my feelings about it.

Too bad I didn't had a console to play those games before. I'm considering buying a PS4 just to play Persona 5 and Final Fantasy XV now...

Persona 4 is fantastic.  A real treat for any player.  It's such a good story and game play.

It's also the happiest game about Murder!

(I also prefer Persona 3 storywise but Persona 4 is freaking fun)

I know, right? It's creepy and strangely funny at the same time.
If the new Doom ends up not being good, at least I could made some nice ad for it's release for a local game store.

For anyone wondering what's written up there: The black bar title says "next releases" and the tagline under the game's logo says "In may the 13th there won't be a safe place in hell!".
Great. The brand new mouse that I got as warranty from an other new one that suddenly started to double-click without any clear cause have just started to double-click too. Do your QA, Logitech.

Logitech used to be a decent brand, but it seems like they just churn out crap. One of my co-workers got a mouse whose scroll wheel is sticking on something and hard to turn. I'd be annoyed, but he doesn't seem to mind. Fact is, something like that shouldn't have made it into a retail box.

A brand new mouse doing the exact same thing?  Are you certain it's the mouse that's the problem?
    MadMaus
    MadMaus
@Sharm Yes. The mouse I've returned to warranty was doing the same thing and I've exhaustively tested it in other computers to be sure. It's also not software related as I've recently formatted my PC and it still happens after removing and reinstalling different driver versions.

The OEM wireless mouse I've received when bought my old dell laptop 5 years ago still works better than these 2 Logitech mouses I've got this year.
It's so sad to see another great Japanese music group coming to an end. Bye, Girugamesh, your legacy will remain.

I don't listen to too much J-Pop or other modern J-music (it's good stuff, never really got acclimated to it), but from what I've read these groups really tend to be easy come, easy go - the taste of the masses there shifting at lightning speed.  Does that sound about right?
    MadMaus

There are some groups that lasted much more longer. X-Japan, Dir en Grey and Buck-Tick are some examples, as they are still active today, but their style have changed a little over time. Overall, they tend to last fewer years comparing to other groups of the same style here in america.
I've beaten the Bell Gargoyles and the Capra Demon in the same day in less than one hour. There must be something wrong with my Dark Souls.
Was going to take a more versatile view on class equipments to make them more versatile, like rogues being able to equip daggers, swords, and some few weapons used by other classes, but I didn't take into account that I'd have even more problems to balance everything that way. Back to the drawing board, then.

Yeah, balance + playstyle versatility is hard. Though honestly a lot of the time I'd rather have a breakable/exploitable progression system with versatility over a clear-cut progression path. At least, I keep playing Dragon Age: Origins over and over again but have found that I'd rather play DA:o over again immediately after finishing it than moving on to 2 and Inquisition. Not all of that revolves around the greater freedom with equipment, but it is a factor.

Also I'm a hypocrite, because I don't even let players choose classes in my own game, let alone weapon types...because like I said, balancing a system and letting players customize their characters is really hard to do without breaking everything.

In my case there won't be class choosing/changing either (until now), but I'll try to counterbalance this by gear diversity with a mix of crafting and customization.
I've started to list all my database items (from consumables to weapons, armors, etc) in a separate text file for better organization (i don't like to work directly in the database, it's... clunky). So far I've made some common weapons and I already have almost 100 items. I wonder were this will be heading to...

Well, sure, but game dev is a good place to work on all those skills at the same time.  I do feel your pain, I have the same problem.  Just be sure to pick one idea, then constantly prune it back so it stays doable.

Good advice. I even had a talk with my wife some time ago about how we tend to have absurdly epic ideas and we get frustrated when we can't make them happen.

We must learn to be more down to earth and try to make things with what we have, trying to surpass the limits we can. And for the ones we can't, well, we work out and try again.

Yes.  I like to remind myself that by doing things small and keeping it to what I can do now I'm making it easier and faster to do the bigger stuff later, when I have more skills.  That's easier for me to believe now that I'm older and have a few projects under my belt, and can look back and see that it's how the pattern actually goes.
Decided to start playing Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn again. Let's see what's up in Eorzea after this long time. :)

i dont consider it a final fantasy as much as a great MMO, one of the reasons i love it is because of the community ...rest of the games have this poisonous community that tries to find ways to ruin good games =\

I do, since every single game have it's own universe independent of each other's and aesthetically all the signatures of the franchise are present.

Toxic people exist everywhere. Be it on our personal lives, work, school, society... It depends only on our actions to make things better. ;)  I always try to have a reasonable discussion when something happens and, if it fails, I just let the individual sink down in it's own ignorance.

Great game! Just been playing it myself ^_^
Designing crafting and upgrades for generic equipment in my project. It will definitely easier to create unique items this way than creating everything from scratch... And save a lot of time, of course. Nothing better than letting our players do the hard work, eh?
After the disastrous loss of my work and the subsequent hiatus from this community, I've decided to start everything from scratch in MV, this time.

Luckily enough, It was only systems and database info. All the documentation is "safe" (that is, as long as I don't hit my head hard and suffer severe amnesia). But still a lot of work to do.

*Note to self: Make regular backups in both physical and non-physical locations to ensure you'll never lose your work again.

Yeah, it was totally avoidable if it wasn't my lack of organization. I'll stop by sometime to search for a way to automate my backups.

You could maybe pick a day of the week and mark it on the calendar as backup day. That's what I did to get organized with it. Might help if you can't find an automated solution.

I'd make a backup every day if I could remember to do that at the end of the day, hahaha. When I worked as a systems analyst some time ago we had a software to keep track of changes on our applications and it was also responsible for doing backups of the source after those changes (It keeps the old file before the change and the new one for security reasons, in case some mistake mas made and you need to roll everything back, for example).

But yeah, I could use some sort of alert on my smartphone calendar or apps like Todoist to remember me as well.
Whoa. There's a long time that I don't come here since I moved to a new house and had no internet conection *sigh*. Finally it's all settled now.
For those who contacted me for the steam keys: I'm sending a list to you guys with the keys I have left from the bundle. I'm giving priority to those who came first, so please keep that in mind if the key you wanted isn't available anymore. Thanks!

Godot's coding language somehow makes my head spin more than Unity's. (No, I'm not switching to Godot, I've just been seeing a few games in that engine.)
And now a new loading screen because the other one was too "old" :kaoswt:
