    Some of the ones I've greatly enjoyed: Darkest Dungeon, Iratus: Lord of the Dead, Legend of Keepers, Rogue Lords, Mistover. Some of them are more roguelite than roguelike though.

    Dungeons of Dredmor, The Curse of Yendor, Tales of Maj'Eyal, Sword in the Stars: The Pit, Wazhack. Darkest Dungeon like what @Matseb2611 mentioned is also good, but that one's pretty different as far as gameplay goes.

    @gstv87 Man holyweird is just horrible where any of that stuff is concerned. They usually don't even care to make the basic mechanics look right, let alone terminology or any of that. I cracked up watching a tiny woman fishhand a desert eagle while rapid-firing fifteen rounds (no reloading) downrange at 50 yards all right in the ten ring on an episode of law and order the other day.

    And that's to say nothing of the way they have cast members irresponsibly flash co stars on the regular and all kinds of dangerous crap, can't be bothered to take a basic ***** safety course before shooting and promote horrible practices that breed real world consequences, sometimes from stupid imitators, and sometimes on set.     @Philosophus Vagus yeah, well,... in the 1960's, it was understandable to mistake one for the other.
    nowadays, shooting a coworker by mishandling a loaded firearm is a dozen layers of stupidity.
    you can't fix stupidity.
    A discussion in the Maker General threads prompted this idea on me: I'll get rid of leveling up for base parameters. Level ups serves a different function, and base parameters can only increase or decrease via other means. Let's see where this takes me.

    The same post had me reconsider my leveling. While leveling isn't going to be outright removed, I've decided to flatten the curve stats are gained, expecting players to make up for the flattened curve through equipment and skills.

    Not really, weight wise they weigh about as much as a longsword if not a bit more as the blade is thicker with Katanas than most western longswords. They can be used single-handed as they are slightly shorter in length but it's not the ideal way to use them, really only traditionally seen in Iaido techniques that focus on unsheathing the blade and cutting in a single, fluid motion.
    I've made and moved to a THIRD spreadsheet document to reorganize my thoughts and better plot out my RPG.

    I have a spreadsheet for equipment stats (it's a lot), enemy stats, and exp tables and two word documents that are 40 pages each (although one has a lot of the same info) :kaoswt:

    I appreciate the offer. I have ideas on my own. I just wanted to post a rhetoric as a dev update.
    I still want to recreate the Spellcraft system for my game, but I think it would be easier and less complicated to have the altered versions of spells as separate skills.
    Weird. For some reason, MV decided to uninstall itself...
    I think I have to give up the idea of letting any job use any weapon, and give them a library of select weapons to choose from instead.

    What if you let any job use any weapon but they get debuffs if they use the wrong ones? That way people could still use weapons that are bad for them for the skills attached to them, while not being able to use them as effectively for direct attacks as a class they were established for.

    @Julijewels: That's what I was going for at the moment- instead of debuffing the unintended classes, the intended ones has buffs that make using specific weapons better.

    I'm still contemplating, but it is something I have to revisit eventually once I move back to databasing.

    @MarxMayhem It could inspire creative character builds if you did it that way, as well as creative items that could scale off of a certain type of stat. Such as an Axe that has an AOE darkness ability, that is good for extra AOE DPS on a melee character, but would also be a nice item on a caster since it unlocks said skill for them and they are able to do more damage with the skill.
    Here be a fun exercise: Can you make an elemental RPS triangle between Water, Wind and Earth?

    A lot of modders are always looking for VAs, it's obviously not gonna be paid mostly but it's experience and if you find a decent passion project or two it'd look good on a portfolio just the same. A buddy of mine that does voiceover semi-for a living now started out that way at least.
    Lately, my project had a 50-50 chance of not getting past the loading screen when I run a battle test. Today, I tried running my game from the Playtest button and it remained stuck after selecting New Game.

    I think I need to start over now...

    Does anyone here have experience with VINSA tablets? I have some settings questions relating to mine.

    Phase as in cycles of time or phasing in and out of particular places in a sequence of time. One who walks between these different positions. If someone told me in a story that a "phasewalker" jumped around in time, it wouldn't... phase me.

    Since I am not focusing on game art, I decided to take some time to make templates out of the default RTP icons. Placeholders be nice while the final thing has not been made.

I now officially hate moustaches.
I have a couple of NPCs who are important enough to need faces. I have learned that I can't really do moustaches, & now wish I'd never started this.
A sad day for me. A monitor that served me loyally for more than 5 years is getting replaced. It's begun to throw very large sparks.
