Knocked through three more rough draft sprites. (A frog beast thing, a skeleton, and vampire bat) down to seven sprites and a thing more appropriately done as tiles.
Every day I'm getting rough-outs of another sprite sheet or two. Getting real close to just needing to make new original stuff and editing my tables and chairs to look correct for the taller sprites is among the top of the revisions list.
Was real busy today but I found a few minutes to start on the named cultists and how to give each of them visually distinctive morphology within the confined of the cult robes. I really dislike straight recolors so I trying real hard with the small details on these.
Got a few sprite sheets done, activated crystals, minecart with Red holding on for dear life, spruced up the Aloysius sprite and modified a copy of it for the basic cultist.
I wish I was smart enough to make heads or tells of the instructions for QJ lighting. It looks like an obviously superior option to Community Lighting which would let me dump hundreds of events per map.
With just a little bit of extra work (and a bit of scripting to poke at a different event's self-switches) now doors with knobs on one side will only have a knob on the asset when you are on the side with the knob.
Got a full accounting of what I still need to make assets for to be totally done with stock art. I have about a full tile sheet worth mostly as 2 tile tall sprite sheets. Or gates, gates take a lot of tiles.
Since it's all just JavaScript, nothing really is stopping me from dropping all of my homebrewed interactive fiction's combat into RPG maker and porting the content over. I did write over 100,000 words for it after all and it feels a shame to let it just languish.
A good eight hours into pouring over every event again, to make sure that nothing was pointing to stock assets unless have to still. My list of events still needing my own stuff is a good fifty different pieces so far. Most of them sprite sheets too. And I still have 19 maps to look over too. 400+ events a map sure feels unwise now.
Forgive my rudimentary video editing skills, thought I'd start sharing progress on my status posts as well. Here's the second character of my roster, Mǽlhafoc, the Ælven ranger.
And if you missed the first one many moons ago, here's Vilhelm, the tarnished knight.
