  • I'm blown away when a mistake or serendipity create something awesome. I was just trying to recolor this to match a battler, and I misaligned the main layer. When I fixed it and prepared to erase the misaligned color layer, I discovered something amazing. Is it blood? Shadow? I don't know. It looks cool. Akamanto.png

A cultist at sunset! How sweet! I mean, even if you worship a dark god, I'm sure you can enjoy the beauty of the natural world! :kaoluv:

Man, as an artist myself (not visual, strictly music stuffs), I'm convinced those little "accidents" or "mistakes" are actually a subconscious skill set we develop over time. It's our most pure soul doing things for us behind our brain's back. Our minds are our most powerful tool, but damn if it doesn't want to make us overthink and mess crap up all the time if we let it.

    Looks good! Theme inspiring!
I grabbed MZ on sale but i'm resisting the urge to install it. Need to remain focused on completing my current project.

MZ is not as revolutionary as you might think.

Atleast for me, it was far from enough to bring me to switch over from MV.

I bought it primarily just for the sake of having it and to use its assets legally.

I don't expect it to be revolutionary, which is why I'm not converting my current project. But I expect i will want to switch in the future.
how do you represent fear of loneliness as a dungeon theme?

-) if there's other party members have them be taken out of the party for this dungeon, maybe even having them join the spectral figures from earlier... make an unavoidable cutscene where an NPC (preferably with emotional value) leaves the player, no matter what they do... things like that

youre already half way there- your setting is in a dungeon! :<) just play on that

In KoTOR II, there's a secret dungeon on Korriban (that's one of the best dungeons of all time, in my estimation) where this gets touched on. I won't spoil it, but the best way to explore loneliness isn't always to be alone, but to be surrounded by people who know you only too well.
I made two important milestones today. First of all, I edited my project to the point it wouldn't start. Second, I deleted a map I didn't mean to, and all it's children. Fortunately they were under heavy construction anyway.
So apparently events "walk" around when you're not looking if you don't fix the direction, so if the same event changes to another sprite it can randomly be a different row. How nice.

They only do that if you set their movement type to random or custom.

Or if they have an action button and turn to face the player.
I'm going back to the default RTP, in the interest of getting it done. FSM is lovely but slow to work with and has tall doors. And switching to tall sprites would mean a lot of franking, and also the horses will be small.

I actually did size down a couple of doors, and that's when I noticed, first of all, the tiny horse standing nearby, and then also the shadows on the wall tile as the FSM tile was not designed for a 1-square height. It didn't look right. I realized no matter what I did I would end up re-working a lot of material.

And time spent wrestling with resources is time not spent on gameplay. Once I figured out how to create a stone bridge with the RTP tileset, that kind of clinched it for me. For this project, at this time. Also thinking about the limitations of the RTP and FSM tilesets, respectively, made me rethink some of my maps and I ended up improving the maps.

I do like the look the Kokoro tiles, perhaps I will look at them later as I near completion, or perhaps for a remixed version of the game.
I just finished what may be the most complicated part of my game: selecting an avatar and having them walk out of that map into the game.

I really, really want the Magic story to be good, but instead we got today's chapter of the most predictable mish-mash of tropes with almost no personality. I let go of the physical game years ago, but I can't seem to let go of the story.
Just finished watching the last of the Final Destination movies. I'm digging every last water bottle out of that old van :p
Put off learning to drive for so long, I hope I don't run into any of-fences ..... (quietly leaves)
I introduced a new character to Mintabelle's Wonderland. Fufu the Raccoon! She's supposed to be a motherly daycare attendant, but when the power goes out, she becomes a monster. Rumor among kids says she causes these outages herself...
After an entire year, finally made new story cutscenes. Ones that take place after the current last boss. Praise be.
