  • To annoy RPG Maker users with more minigames, I made a rabbit town, where you have to constantly keep jumping or you get kicked out (you can jump a different distance based on key-press)! But that's not all, if you accidentally stomp on their carrot fields (the map is full of those) you'll get kicked out as well!
So I've been thinking that Amka's (MC in my game) attacks/skills could cause the 'eunuch' state, that would prevent the enemy from using intimidating/paralyzing/stat-boosting roars.
Started writing for ep2 of Nymph's Tale. I had forgotten how hard this is without a native language proficiency. Google is also a surprisingly poor tool for trying to find out ways how to say something (more than one word translations). Like please tell me about expressions for laborious movement through snow, not snowmobiles! (just an example). Well, I managed the story "flowchart" and first 1 and a half scenes.
Battle against a big slime (LMAO at how long it takes to set these up)
It's annoying trying to find some good lesser known games when people on STEAM give 9-10 star reviews to all kinds of cr*p and people on Reddit's "recommend me games like X" post all kind of sh*t in those threads.

PS. Can someone recommend games with good/fun/charming characters (like LoH:Trails or Utawarerumono)?

This post reminds me of how sometimes companies will fake reviews of their game by having fake players review it to make it look better than it was. That really pisses me off. That is so extremely deceitful and low of them to do that.

I remember recently Square Enix did that with one of their latest games. It was some sort of carnival game or something but I can't remember the name of it. But yeah it sucks. And they were having fake people review it giving it 5 stars. I am NOT freaking making this up LOL.

It reminds me also of how with Bubsy 3D Accolade had this fake "Gold X Award" plastered on the game's cover and a fake review from PSXtreme saying "One of the sleeper hits of 1996-an action game no platformer fan should miss". Jesus Christ......no wonder they went out of business, the damn liars! XD

Anyway yeah it's so annoying that companies will sometimes lie like that just to make money off their crappy products.
YES!!! After hours of work I finally managed to find the perfect balance in combat.
Funny how I get annoyed if the battle system in a game is too plain, but at the same I time I get annoyed if I have to think. And what I'm doing right now while playing LoH: Trails to Azure, is again just running around with turbo mode on, spamming basic attack and sometimes S-crafts, annoyed if I get hit with a status effect and raging if the enemies reflect physical damage.
Playing around with different events in ABS, this one's without movement (it didn't record the mouse cursor for some reason). Goal is to make the spell attacks and defences more complex.
At least they aren't even trying to hide who's writing these RPG Maker Unite 5 stars reviews:

"I am happy with it and want to thank the developers for it hereby."

"It's unfair to say it's all GGG's fault. There are issues are that aren't caused by Unite nor can they be fixed from GGG's end."

"Totally underrated software if you ask me. 5 stars, no doubt about it. Gamechanger event!"

My review moment with unite was when I saw the one there by @taarna23 , because I was like: "Look, there is an opinion I can trust!"

@Avery Aw, thanks! I've been honestly having a lot of fun digging into the code and bringing the tiles I love into 3D (wish I could post progress here). Just their interface is kind of horrible but not really horrible. I think it's partly Unity's internal stuff that's a limiting factor.
Took me 10+ hours to achieve (I hope) my simple mechanic for one spell type in the new ARPG plugin. And that was after multiple hours figuring that stupid arc tangent stuff with the mouse cursor angle. Anything more complex than basic RPG Maker is just killing my brain :D It's so frustrating when you don't know if a mechanic is not possible in the plugin or if you're simply setting it wrong. Seriously need to rest.

I haven’t experimented with it yet. I keep hoping that some super awesome person will make some tutorial videos about how to use it. It would be great if all plugins had very detailed tutorials.
FSM tiles are a blessing! Made multiple small maps and they all look decent to my eye (probably look like sh*t in reality, but that doesn't matter).
In my list of games to play (only counting the ones I intend to play, not random steam purchases): 17 visual novels, 8 jrpgs, 6 western/action rpgs and 15 other type of games. Also, Legend of Heroes: Trails into Azure, Boundless Trails and Trails into Reverie are all releasing this year. This is hard work guys!
Doing random and absolutely useless things in RPG Maker is really good for your creativity! I came up with plot for my ABS game, an idea for a jousting minigame + another minigame where you have to juggle a bouncing turd with a flying head whilst dodging bullets.

Sounds useful to me :p If you can make a minigame like that, any other should be a breeze now :p
Wholesome content recommendation: A Sky Full of Stars (Visual Novel). This has saved my evenings, after work has drained me.
It's crazy how effective a lot of indie devs are. My work flow is like: pace around the room restlessly, start rpg maker mz, turn my character speed to to max and start running around an empty map / sky parallax in playtest mode, maybe look at some plugin videos in youtube, spend 2 hours, manage to make one database item: iron sword, +2 attack.

To get on my level you need to do that for *twenty-two years*.

A lot of people often advocate "making progress every day", even if it's just adding a tree to a map. But my experience was like:

    Day 1: *add a tree*
Day 2: "This tree sucks, why I added it here yesterday?" *erase the tree*

So, without a solid plan, I often just backtrack.

Well, I haven't worked on any of my projects for 2 or 3 weeks (beyond some brainstorming at work) because I've been distracted with playing computer games. HELP!
After 7 months of really hard work and then 6 months of lazing around and procrastinating with adding the final touches my game is finally complete! Not bad considering that a year ago I didn't really even know about variables. Thanks to everyone who helped with questions and assets! Feels good to have a game under my belt! Ep2 (also self contained) may possibly come in the future!

New character incoming!

Compilation of some of the last few days onto my testing map.
Finished all the tools! Really happy with how they turned out. For clarification, when using the portal tool, if you spawn into a wall, it kills ya.
I've figured out how to implement abilities into Snapdrake. My fav is prolly Hell or High Water, considering its essentially "go big or go home" the ability.
