Hm, Persona 5 has a button that selects actions for the player and they're releasing a "complete" edition. Ah, gamer double-standards...

What does the complete edition include? I hadn't heard anything about it.

I've found that most "popular" games don't have good stories or gameplay--they just pander to players' narcissism and belief of superiority.

Or they have half naked images in them, or worse.

That's why I want to make something that defies that entirely.

Are you talking of shooters? It's been pretty popular, although there has been a rise of a few more.

It's always interesting how games that the internet whines about sell much, much better than games the internet obsessively worships.

Recently what I've seen is anything 'professional' critics think is great...tanks and what they think is horrible and should be avoided sells really well. Examples: kingdom come, farcry 5, battlefield 5, this past season of Dr. Who.

Every time I open RPG Maker, I discover new limitations on making the kind of game I want to.

That is right, I can hardly get the "coming up with the idea". If you talk about pushing the engine beyond limits, it was never my problem.

@Seirein That's what commissioning is all about :)
Or you can also improve yourself and learn to do things you didn't think you could, like many others here.

Take the opportunity to learn new things. I used to be just a story guy, now I'm a story guy + a shitty coder as well as a halfway competent pixel artist. Free tutorials are everywhere, all it costs is a little time and interest. The engine isn't limiting you in this case, it's your own limitations that are the problem.

Designing and playtesting battle mechanics feels so worth it when you'll never have the sprites to tell the story you want to.

I tend to do cutscenes a lot, but even when opposite I feel the same. :D

Sprites are helpful, but you can still tell a good story with rtp
