  • Social distancing is great, apart from trying to work from home while the guy up the road now has ample time and apparently the only way to fill it is to ride his dirt bike up and down our street all day :(

Well, in our country people are more mindful of others, even on the roads. I can't say I've ever seen people so willing to let pedestrians through as they are now.
If you post asking for help, and half a dozen people try to help you, it would be nice for you to come back and say what the solution was before having your thread closed. And maybe say thanks.

If they didn't come back here, their thread would still be open. I'm referring to the people who ask the mods to close their threads because they have an answer.

haha - okay, to rephrase, if they post a question and they don't keep bumping, we assume they no longer need an answer :p
Hubby has been a stay-at-home dad for over 10 years. Finally got a (casual) job again at the start of March, began his training. Today, work says "we're concerned about social distancing. Don't call us, we'll call you." That one pay was nice.
Internet down 3 times in 3 weeks. NBN tech discovered we'd been hooked up to a faulty node. After fixing, our speed is now 4 times what we've been on for the last 13 months!

So what you're saying is everybody favorite helpful super sonic squirrel is now four times faster?! At that point are the problems answered before people post them? :kaoswt:

The problems are already answered before people post them. The real problem is nobody searches before posting :D

    ImaginaryVillain
Well I mean can you blame them? At the speeds we're talking about now, you're going to have to insert wait times so the slower user events can finish searching. :LZSwink:

Getting so much spam lately! I'm sure my (ex)Telco sold my email address along with millions of others. All the spam is offers suited to US residents. I'm not a US resident. Guess that was a waste of their money.

Brave's pretty good, recently I switched to just using Linux (Mint), the default browser turned out to be Firefox, and I've kind of been too lazy to look for alternatives yet. But I've got a whole lot of add-ons setup to make it difficult to track me, and of course by switching to Linux I removed that spyware/virus that is Windows 10. :LZSwink:

@ImaginaryVillain On the "dark web", also called darknet, sites outside of it are referred to being clearnet sites. The term is often used to warn other darknet users that a link will direct them to a clearnet site.

Makes sense really, I mean if you're really that desperate to stay anonymous, it probably doesn't help to load up Youtube... Not that Youtube actually works with Tor, since it disables 90% of the stuff that makes Youtube function. Honestly I just found the whole dark web boring, reminds me of the regular web but with less features.
Was going to spend the whole weekend researching and writing. Internet was down most of yesterday, so I couldn't. Today I'm sick, so I don't want to :( One more weekend without progress.

If I recorded while I created (what I think is) a small plugin, would you be interested enough in the process to watch it?

It is a solid reference if it has a commentary. If not, probably just an entertainment video. The question is which purpose?

Also in gm you code from scratch, unlike RM which u copy paste and edit. So if u want it to be like in gm, probably code a custom scene would be better.

Not sure I would personally but I could see many others being interested in the development process. Give it a shot!

It would not be a coding tutorial, just an over-the-shoulder look at how I pull something together. With commentary, bugs and troubleshooting, and with any luck, a working plugin at the end :)
Love it when someone confuses "RPG Maker (or script/plugin) has a bug" with "I didn't set it up right and it's not working as I want (or gives an error)"
"Your service has been identified as part of an outage. This is expected to be restored by 7pm IN SEVEN DAYS!!!" Guess I won't be around as much over the next week :(

It came back on yesterday afternoon. No notification. Turns out there HAS been maintenance happening for a week already, and will continue for another week. Maybe that's where they got the date from. The NBN site said the impact should only be an hour, but it was probably 5 for us. So I'm back in action ... for now.

I've heard that there's some really dodgy stuff on mobiles. One such shady thing I've heard of is something that tricks you into paying for things using your fingerprint. I don't know much about it since I don't keep up to date with mobile tech.

I went to install a weather app recently, and noticed that it was asking for access to my contacts and calendar. No weather app needs those to do its job properly. Installation cancelled.

Ooh, I see a Latest Threads link at the top of the "feed". Doesn't seem to be working quite right yet, but looking forward to checking it again tomorrow.
Borrowed hubby's laptop & reinstalled Windows, but it's just not powerful enough. So reinstalling Windows on my laptop. Unfortunately I only have 100GB. So I can probably have Windows and maybe two other programs.

My first PC had no HDD at all. It ran on 2 5.25" floppies. When I got one with a HDD it might have been 20MB. That was around 1987/88

Though I'm also in the group that their first PC had just a floppy drive, no HD. Didn't even get an HD until like 1990/1991 or so, and it was like 40 MB.
Just to throw the cat among the pigeons ... are we REALLY starting a new decade, or are we still 12 months away from that? The first year was 1, not 0, so the end of the first decade would be 31 Dec 10, not 31 Dec 9.

I may have to. One company who quoted $220 for data recovery replied to say if it IS a stuck head, they will have to send it away and it will cost $750-$1500. My data is valuable, but so is my money. Besides, if it had to be sent away, I could do that as easily as they could, and avoid their overhead.

Wow, yeah that's a crazy amount of money for it. I had no idea places charged that much. Here's to hoping the others are a bit cheaper.
2 days until 2020. I wonder if I can get into a routine THIS year where I can make small and regular progress on all of my (RPG and other) projects/tasks that I want to do?

Recently I did it to switch my diet to Keto... Turns out it's a very easy diet to end up at after a month or two of slowly working to it, and very easy to stick with. If I'd just flipped the switch and went straight Keto, I would never have made it. :LZSskeptic:

I agree, the new star wars was good. Too many people are caught in that youtube algorithm where they're shown content creators who make negative reviews in order to avoid getting a normal job.
