  • Finding it amusing that people are posting support questions in new threads for an engine that isn't even released yet. Touch and Archeia are the only ones authorised to say anything, and there's only one active thread where they'll be answering questions.

The excitement really took off when the sample games were released. Access to the graphics, audio, and code is more interesting than some screen shots.
Got accepted into the architecture degree. Now I have all the doubting questions. Have to give them an answer in the next few days.

Plus, new PC is up and running now with almost everything installed. So there are no more excuses, other than time and fear.

Oh yeah, fear of putting yourself out there is the worst. I still have the underlying feeling my stuff isn't good enough. And still twitch a bit before pressing the button to upload something to social media. Thankfully over time it ends up being not as bad. Best advice (which I should take more myself) just do it, don't think about it. :LZSexcite: No advice on my time though, I need more of that too. :kaoback:

Congratulations on getting in! As far as the doubt - carefully think over what you believe your path would be if you go for this degree, and what it would be if you don't. Chances are you'll come to the right decision.

New PC is built. Now I walk that fine line between wanting it NOW, and being responsible and waiting for the stress test to be finished. By this time tomorrow it'll be up and running. And my desk will have had a much-needed clean.

@FiercestPixel I didn't build it. My brother does them as part of his business.
@ImaginaryVillain yeah, I tinker with it after it's built.
I asked my brother to build me one, told him what I want to do with it, he sent me the specs, I passed them to hubby, who gave his approval and is now slightly jealous.

And looks like I'm getting it in a few hours, not tomorrow.

Heck, I don't even use my phone for anything other than messages, calling, and a shopping list! :D Nobody could ever accuse me of keeping up with the latest trends!

Ugh... phones. I'd throw mine off a bridge if I didn't make so much money having it. :LZSwink: Also your brother definitely recommended some very good parts, probably overkill to be honest. But I've pretty much discovered that's how a lot of people build their computers... Or I'm just insanely stingy with my money. :stache:
In other news, my new computer is now ordered, and I'll have it in my hot little hands by the end of the week! CAN'T WAIT!!!
I keep thinking today is Thursday.
And I look forward to the next preview thread coming this afternoon.
And then I realise it's not Thursday at all.
And then I get sad :(

Yeah, I understand that feel. I really, really want to get my hands on MZ and tinker around.

The other really sad thing about it is that it means I have 3 days to go until the weekend, instead of only 1 :(
The intricate play between supply and demand and COVID-19 has increased the price of my new computer system by $300 since I got the first quote 6 weeks ago :( Guess I don't REALLY need a new monitor, and I can pay for Windows 10 activation later. On the upside, I hope to be putting it to use next weekend.

That's a nice one to use when you want to black out an area on the A tiles (why isn't there an 'erase' tile for the autotiles?) I use it a lot for interiors.

I probably used the tile to cover the out-of-bounds area and then changed the passage setting. Ah well, nice to know I do not have to avoid that square anymore.

So no staff cuts in our department yet, but the system I look after has an end date. Thinking of studying again so I'm ready for a complete non-IT career change when that end date arrives. Work full time, study full time, RPG Maker, real life, easy, right?

I always thought that's super interesting but building such a house around here around be highly frustrating simply through bureaucracy. But I think that long term we need to build in a way that makes the most efficient use of the water we use, the space that we occupy and the food that we need. Not only as private persons, but also as cities providing living space.
Tldr: I think you would make an awesome architect

Yes bureaucracy is ever a problem :p.

Traditionally in Holland architects would design buildings with green spaces around it (those meaning someone with gardening skills should detail that part). I’ve seen some recent projects though where the design was more of a coop between architects, biologists, ecologists and gardeners. That’s already a step forward.

@EmeraldDemnia thank you so much for your definition - that describes the essence of permaculture beautifully. Yes, I also haven't seen much in the way of combining the two, so I'm hoping in the time it takes me to become qualified, there might already be great demand and little supply.
Just found out a lot of departments at work have been told to cut staff. Our department's manager has called a special meeting for Friday. Guess I'm glad I already paid for MZ ...

My little ragdoll x foster kitties both go to their new homes tomorrow. They've grown so much and we're gonna miss them.
Calculated my tax refund - CHEERS
Looked at my student debt - cries
Still, might be just enough left over to pay for my new computer, which would be awesome!
And my student debt will be fully paid, which is also pretty nice.
Tomorrow I will be getting FIVE foster kitties - all ragdoll cross! Three of them will be going to another carer later. But for a few hours, I'll have five to cuddle! I wonder how my 3 adult cats are going to cope with this ...

@Dalph we've been fostering for about 18 months now. I was very unsure how ours would react at first. The female is very no-nonsense. So we went really slowly at first. They have all been awesome. Our big male, who was also a rescue (from family) is incredibly affectionate and caring towards all the kitties we get.

Our "youngest" is a 5 year old pure ragdoll, and he doesn't have a lot of patience with the kitties we bring home. I'm very interested to see if the next lot being the same breed as him triggers any different reaction. Probably not :D

All these people getting new computers. My brother builds them for a living, so I got him to quote me on a low-end gaming machine. Now I just have to get the money for him to build it. Hubby is jealous :)
When you spend 6 hours trying to get a 40-line script to work, and when it finally works you realise the problem was that you had a dot in some variable names.

I've been redrawing my entire game in just particles. I no longer remember what the bitmap was like... I've gone full particle native. :kaoback:

I had this problem with like, Victor's Materia Engine for VX Ace. If a player character left the party for a cutscene, the materia they had went with them disappeared which actually bothered me so much that I spent a solid week figuring it out. Then I realized the problem code was one tiny line, snipped it and everything is fine. :|

Hey there! Wanted to thank you for suggesting the RPG Maker MV resources! I confused pixel art with painted assets and, in the end, I think painted assets will look much better on my game. I ended up buying First Seed Material's packs  Thank you! Have a great day!
For the last freaking time, Yanfly set aside funds to pay people to update his plugins for new versions of the engine. Can everyone please get over the "no more Yanfly plugins" drama now?
    Shaz
    Shaz
Other plugin creators aren't going to make Yanfly's plugins, and a ridiculously large number of people depended on them. Just look at any "what plugins should I use?" thread and it'll only be a few posts before you see someone advise "just install all the Yanfly plugins"
    Shaz
    Shaz
And it's not so much a recognition thing for other coders. It's just the volume of plugins and anyone who wanted to make theirs compatible had to be aware of and understand all of them. I just don't have the time, and if my saying "I will not provide compatibility patches" means fewer people use mine, so be it. I also don't aim for mine to be compatible with Moghunter's.

I just don't make public plugins. It isn't for everyone. I've made a few for people on request, but mostly I just make my them for me, and answer what questions I can when others are building theirs. The whole Yanfly MV era had weird, unintended side effects on the public plugin community for sure, but it'll settle down and figure itself out soon.

So I just spent the weekend...playing my own game. The one I released last year. Yep you heard that right.
Goal for MZ? None... I'm still curious how to finish my VXA project and how it looks like when it actually finished. Which will take at least another two years. Coming late again to the party.

I think my goal for MZ ... is to actually release a game and not have twenty technical demos and debugging projects. Let's see if I can manage that. ;o
I am starting to enjoy writing. I never thought I would enjoy it since my dyslexia was holding me back so much.
