  • If I post an item for sale on fb for $750 and say it's in excellent condition, what is going through someone's mind to make them think it is remotely acceptable to offer $300 for it?
    Did you know:
The word "homeowner" has the word "meow" in it.

Good luck pronouncing it correctly ever again.

I've heard that there's some really dodgy stuff on mobiles. One such shady thing I've heard of is something that tricks you into paying for things using your fingerprint. I don't know much about it since I don't keep up to date with mobile tech.

I went to install a weather app recently, and noticed that it was asking for access to my contacts and calendar. No weather app needs those to do its job properly. Installation cancelled.

No fail weather app: I can hear rain on the roof - it must be cloudy and raining. Think I'll sleep well tonight - haven't had good rain for such a long time.
Why are so many people asking for scripts "Just like in LISA: The Painful RPG"?
Ooh, I see a Latest Threads link at the top of the "feed". Doesn't seem to be working quite right yet, but looking forward to checking it again tomorrow.
Borrowed hubby's laptop & reinstalled Windows, but it's just not powerful enough. So reinstalling Windows on my laptop. Unfortunately I only have 100GB. So I can probably have Windows and maybe two other programs.

My first PC had no HDD at all. It ran on 2 5.25" floppies. When I got one with a HDD it might have been 20MB. That was around 1987/88

I remember buying a 3 GB HD in 1997 thinking how will I ever use all that space?

Though I'm also in the group that their first PC had just a floppy drive, no HD. Didn't even get an HD until like 1990/1991 or so, and it was like 40 MB.
Just to throw the cat among the pigeons ... are we REALLY starting a new decade, or are we still 12 months away from that? The first year was 1, not 0, so the end of the first decade would be 31 Dec 10, not 31 Dec 9.
Foster kitty pulled external hard drive off desk, and now it's not working. Beeping, which could indicate stuck head. What joy.

A pack of cheap tiny tools (I got a set for $1) and the will to help the hamster inside see freedom is all it takes to open a spinning hard drive. :LZSwink:

I may have to. One company who quoted $220 for data recovery replied to say if it IS a stuck head, they will have to send it away and it will cost $750-$1500. My data is valuable, but so is my money. Besides, if it had to be sent away, I could do that as easily as they could, and avoid their overhead.

Wow, yeah that's a crazy amount of money for it. I had no idea places charged that much. Here's to hoping the others are a bit cheaper.
2 days until 2020. I wonder if I can get into a routine THIS year where I can make small and regular progress on all of my (RPG and other) projects/tasks that I want to do?

Exactly, and besides a tiny commitment if left unchecked often just becomes the norm. Then you're starting from one step closer to the goal. <Insert Tortoise and the Hare fable here>

I'm going to try to do the same. Not just when it comes to working on my game, but in other aspects of my life too.

Recently I did it to switch my diet to Keto... Turns out it's a very easy diet to end up at after a month or two of slowly working to it, and very easy to stick with. If I'd just flipped the switch and went straight Keto, I would never have made it. :LZSskeptic:
I don't care what anyone else says - I loved Star Wars. Best of the 3 in this trilogy.

I agree, the new star wars was good. Too many people are caught in that youtube algorithm where they're shown content creators who make negative reviews in order to avoid getting a normal job.

As the obvious choice for "hero" of light, I will definitely be certain to let people know when I find their missing motivation. And I will of course in no way use the motivation as power to animate an army of killer garden gnomes. :LZSexcite:

Wow, I never pegged you for a garden gnome shamer. Geez! Just because some of us villains heroes can't afford the budget for animated minions doesn't mean you have hate. :LZSskeptic:

Heya there! I hope I don't come off as rude, but I always liked your avatar. I found it super cool and cute. Squirrels are such neat critters, especially cartoon ones!

Oh, and Happy Holidays by the way! I hope you are faring well.

My dad passed away last night, after years of battling increasing health issues. Glad I got to spend time alone with him yesterday.

Thank you all for your kind words. The funeral was this morning. The funeral directors did the most beautiful job, and I was a lot calmer than I expected to be.

Now I get to focus on the healing process, and try to cope with all those little "dad will love this" or "have to ask/tell dad" moments that are bound to hit over the coming months.

@Shaz I don't think we ever really recover from loss such as this, we just learn to live with it. I hope you one day start smiling at those little reminders of your dad, rather than them making you feel sad.

    Take care of yourself.

@Shaz the feeling of loss will never go away completly however there Will come a time where the memories will turn to good memories instead of just painful reminders. How long it takes is different for anyone and you need to take you time with it. Let no one tell you you should be done grieving at any point. Take all the time you need.
Also, glad to hear it was such a beautiful event.
TFW you get something "that works" but think "I can do better" so you poke and prod and tweak, and it DOES do better! Then you repeat it.

The worst part is, it's just way too much fun going down the whole "I can do it better" rabbit hole. It's way more seductive to my attention than paltry things like mapping, story or balancing. XD

You can send private messages to people. I do not work on private projects though. Too many things to do, not enough time.

Nah don't be sad, I was only around 7-8 at the time and I can't begin to tell you how excited we were to finally get it to do something. Honestly it wasn't till days later that we realized we broke it, but before that we were celebrating our victory. It's a weirdly fond memory.

Anyway you should definitely make a game on it. It's worth it for the nostalgia factor alone.

Dark Parables and the 3-hour work session are red herrings. You make a sandwich and watch tv. Cracked Black pepper turkey, pepperjack cheese and spicy mustard. Toasted everything bagel. Then you sleep.
