I have an opportunity to go back to uni. Debating whether to take it. Tempted by Psychology as well as Mathematics and Statistics, for <reasons>, but they're each 12-unit degrees, which puts me over the limit for a double major. I'd have to try and get credit for units I did 10 years ago (probably unlikely), or try and convince them to let me do 4 extra units. Plus, just looked through the list of units for each one. They look really hard
I'm not good at making battles interesting, and have been worried the whole development time about this. In the wee hours this morning I woke up after dreaming that my mother (who is not computer savvy at all!) wanted me to make a game, which turned out to be more of a VN than an RPG, but it had battles and an overworld, and it was a really interesting mechanic - nothing spectacular or mind-blowing, just something I'd never seen or heard of before - and when I woke up I thought that'd be perfect to do in my game. At the time I thought I should get up and write it all down so I wouldn't forget, but it's winter here and my bed was nice and warm, so I went back to sleep. Naturally, I can now remember bits and pieces of it, but not what it was that made it so special. The bits that I do remember are not that much different to the default battle mechanic.
Let's sign up, hang around the forum for a month, and then tell the moderators how to do their job. Yeah, what could go wrong with that?
In other news, I so want my game to just be finished already, but it's been so long and the thought of figuring out where I left off is just scary. An I want to rewrite it so I can redo all the scripts and make them better. On the horns of a dilemma ...
If you EVER register a domain name, pay the extra cost for WhoIs anonymity. I didn't, based on not remembering to have ever been offered/accepted with my previous domains, and I'm regretting it big time. Only a week, and I'm being flooded with emails from people who think I NEED to have their logos, web designs, mobile apps, and are all waiting for me to get back to them. The best offer so far was for provision of full sample layouts and no payment required until I approved one. I might be tempted, if I had spare cash. But then spare cash might be better spent seeing if I can get that option I initially didn't take.
I am at my dad's place. Met the man who wanted all dad's poultry, and his lovely family, and we caught (we think) all of them and they're gone now. I also trapped the cat to take back with me - that was much easier and faster than any of us expected, and I can sleep peacefully now, without worrying about whether he'll turn up or not. He's beautiful, and so incredibly calm, considering he hasn't had much human contact at all. I want to go home now, but it's getting late and I don't like driving at night. I also need to stay to just make sure there aren't any stray chooks that evaded the round-up. Not sure what I'll do with them if there are. It's so cold here ... 10.7°C but feels like 8.3°C, with strong wind gusts going right through the house There's going to be a frost in the morning
It rained all night last night, and it's still raining lightly today. Love it. Today is a "pull back the curtains and work while it's raining" day. However, I hope it clears away today, as I found a buyer for all my dad's poultry, and tomorrow I have to make another trip down to meet him and spend the late evening catching 25+ chooks. Dad and I froze when we went down there on Tuesday - going to be one miserable night if it's raining too
We are not moving house. Renewed our lease today for another 12 months. My dad has accepted that he can't be on his own, and even if we move to be near him, there's still a great risk, so he's made the decision to move here instead of us moving there. Thank goodness, 'cause I took him home on Tuesday, planning to stay a few nights, and it was absolutely freezing! We came home a day early, and aren't planning to go back apart from day trips to sort out his things and get him moved. I'm sad for him, as I know how much he wanted to stay. But I think this is the best outcome for him, health and safety-wise, and I'm so relieved that we can stay where we are. Now life can get back to normal again.
House search continues ... we submitted an application on Friday for a rather nice, and large, place. It hasn't been processed yet. When I told my mum where it is, she wondered if it was my sister's old house, which used to be in town but was relocated to that area after she sold it. Turns out, it's exactly the same house my sister used to own when she lived down there - moved onto a larger block on the edge of town, and renovated! That's the second house I've considered renting down there that she used to live in! Maybe I should ask her for a list of places she HASN'T owned or lived in, and just search through those.
Today I found another place that's closer to the area we're looking, it's absolutely beautiful - ticks even more boxes - and is only $10 a week more than the one we already applied for, exactly the same amount that we're paying now. I was so tempted to just tell them to change our application to this house, without even waiting to look through it. But we'll do an inspection in a couple of weeks when it's vacant, and by then the office will already have approved our application, so it'll only need to be submitted to the owners. Fingers crossed ...
Shaz > Why did you delete my post? I was trying to promote a product on your forum - one that can be used with rpg maker and compliments it quite well - it doesnt seem to be against the rules. I was also going to post free content created with it in that thread.
Lease ends 6 weeks from today. Time to get serious about looking ... first house inspection coming up on Wednesday, and it's gorgeous (rent is almost as much as we're paying in a much larger city for a brand new house, but it ticks every single box). I'm almost certain we'll submit an application. Just hope the owner is willing to hold onto it for 4 or 5 weeks so we're not paying rent on 2 places, or go through this exercise half a dozen times.
Mmmm ... warm porridge on a cool day! First for the year, but there will be more
Still looking for a place to rent near my dad when our lease runs out Forecasts are for snow in Stanthorpe this winter. Then EVERY day will be porridge day! Snow and porridge will be nice. Not so much looking forward to the cold. But that's nearly 2 months away (creeping up quickly though), and a lot can change in 2 months.
