  • I feel more comfortable publishing my game on PC than android. Mobile phones are unreliable for rpgmaker. I tried to optimize the game and I couldn't game keeps crashing no matter what. Perhaps because my phone is old..

    I'm actually impressed a phone from 2013 still works 10 years later XD and depends on the specs, as I said, can't really know unless you tell me the model hah

    also dont fix phones, unless it's a necessity I suppose, you can find good phones for dirt cheap nowadays.
    I wish Joiplay (Rpgmaker games emulator) had an option to export your game directly to Android as a stand alone game that you can share with others without using emulator

    Trying to figure out what is wrong with Array. Trying to store a random array into variable and its not working =( At least i am learning something new everyday
    Its nice how RPGMaker forces you to learn a lot of stuff. Like I learned through my project damage formula and now I am trying to understand this array thingy and I am feeling both curios and confused about the array and variable scripting

    imagine a swiss army knife, with each small tool numbered 0 to N.
    that's an array.
    when you access an array like array[X], you're saying "bring out item numbered whatever this variable says".
    if your array is [1,4,6,2,0,7,9], array[4] is not "the number 4 within it", but "the item in 5th place" (arrays start counting from 0, not 1)

    Arrays are very cool once you start to learn how to use them. There are some great tutorials about using arrays as well as some Java Script resources that can help in understanding them.
    Ever feel Nostalgic toward your own game? Like some for reasons I cannot delete the older back up versions of my games I feel very nostalgic about it now that I came a long way after that and so many stuff changed

    I think keeping and looking at old work is important. There’s an important exercise at looking at it as growth and having positive feelings toward it.

    rpgmaker unite kind of gives me XP vibes with these tall characters.
    It looks nice and all but I don't think with this price point that it will get developer support. I think they should have gone to the 3D route instead , that would have been fantastic.

    I love Unity, but yeah, I don't know what they were thinking with that combination. They seem to be selling worse products for more money.
    Any one can suggest me some RPGMaker MV Preferably MZ to play. I would love to take some inspirations of what MZ is capable of and enjoy my time as well

    Unfortunately only the fan vote shows on itch, so uuh ignore that first game, it's not that good. The actual top 3 from the judges were Berry, Buffet Knight and Forest Star. Monster is another good one to judge MZ as it uses no plugins whatsoever.

    Do you think RPGMaker Unite will be as Good as MZ/MV? I think MZ/MV made rpgmaker a sucssess. Even thoughts Ace assessts were better, Java script is a major improvement from Ruby but not sure what to feel about Unite.

    Yeah I think the official release of XP was a big moment.
    What the point of Last Enemy Target Index and storing it into Variable if you cannot use it using default setting..

    Follow up skills when scripting come to mind? Or some state that locks on to a target
    While I wish rpgmakermz had more options in the battle system more built in customizations. They did a great job making it one of the best engines to use. Plus the engine limitation allows people to think more how to execute by script calls.
    I never understood the difference between MZ And MV. But I use MZ because its the latest one. I stopped developing games after ACE. So what are the main difference between MZ and MV? Is MZ more powerful? Aren't they both Java scripts? Does MZ have less limitation to its engine? I cannot tell because I never played with MV before

    To be fair MV had its own share of Developers focus,
    But MZ Had a fantastic and maybe much faster start than MV

    That most of the plugins have MZ version of them

    Creating a game or battle system using events is Intersting yet difficult task..
    There is something intersting and creative about RPGMakerAce/VX Main Actors like Ralph I don't know what it is. But it feels like they belong to an Anime or something. Some thing is very creative about them compared to MZ. I can't really feel the same about MZ and MV. Yeah MV and MZ got way better Engine but the RTP is not as interesting and not as memorable

    Its the advent of the character generator I think. While the RTP isn't made of generator parts I think they were designed to not look too out of place among generated characters and it makes them look more generic overall. Or I'm just a cranky old man with nostalgia goggles or some combination of the two.
    I believe the only way you will finish a game you are creating if you write the plot first. If you finish the plot then that means you have a target but if you are creating the whole plot and story events while I creating the game then you will be confused mid way of what is next. Concept is the key and its how Game developers finish their games

    Maybe start a Game in Development thread (if you haven't already) and ask there. Because you have to include info about the game there, people will have a better idea of they want to or not. Not everyone will have read the same manga that you have and so might have no idea what you're talking about. Call it a card game and they might be interested.

    As long as it doesn't fry my motherboard, perhaps I could be interested. However, I'm an old school yugioh player, so my skill goes as far as contact fusion goes.
    Any one here miss RPGMakerVXACE Days and sprites. I love rpgmakermz but the default RTP sets are far better in VXACE and even the VXACE Ost is far better

    MZ added the ability to use different tileset sizes, but sprite size is built into the spritesheet itself and can be small or huge. For XP sprites you have to edit them, but Ace sprites use the same setup as MV (and I think MZ) so you should be able to put them in and see how it looks. Without a tileset change they should look fairly small.

    MV and MZ use bigger sprites than VX (Ace), but use same structure than Ace. You should convert all audio files to OGG or M4A if you use RPG2000 or 2003 RTP's to MV or MZ editors (if you use XP or VX (Ace), only convert to OGG).

For anyone who didn't see my post yesterday, let's just say that I tried to make a plugin and it went horribly wrong. I was so far off base I think I was in another ballpark. But hey, I still learned a couple of things. Even if one of them was to leave the plugin stuff to the experts and big boys/girls/people of pluginy persuasion. :LZSlol:

Mostly distracting myself with more work on adding visual distinction to a map.
there's been various points where my game was actually frontview. I think I'm gonna go back to that actually. One reason I'm almost at the 5 year mark (come April) with this project is literally I just have to keep drawing stuff. So I think if I do what I'm thinking of with frontview, that'll save a LOT of time.
