  • Making the music and then imagining where I would put instead of actually doing it it is more fun sometimes. :elswt:

ive come to terms that half of the music i make wont actually get used in the game and that ill have to either shoehorn them in as optional postgame boss themes or make a separate OST DLC for them to be in.

Here's a picture of the overworld map with my custom overworld tiles! Since each pixel on the tileset is actually worth two, a map of this size loses no detail when exported through RPG maker, which halves the image size if the map is too big.
So, I've now updated my GMTK game jam game for what I feel will be the last time because I'm pretty tired of doing jam things for the week. So now, I'm probably going to just continue work on my rpg, but I think I'll wait until I get the feeling to do it again, but that won't be too long!
    probably...
Doing the GMTK game jam was really fun! It was the first one I've entered, and I actually managed to finish a game way before the deadline. I can't link it here because rules, so it's on my itch.io page if anyone wants to play it (and please rate it if you can.) Anyway, it was a good break form working on JQ, even though it was way less of a break and more of a different kind of challenge.
I'm doing GMTK this year. Anyone else participating in it?

Greenwich Mean Time Kick-off? No. Never been a fan of changing my time zone.

Just kidding. I had to look up what GMTK was. Maybe someday I will get the ambition to participate in one of the game jams. Good luck!
I feel that regular battles just aren't a good mechanic sometimes. This is why I tend to enjoy RPGs that innovate with battle features, like Franken, Undertale, and Paper Mario. So, I will only do battles in Jimmy's Quest if it's necessary as a storytelling element. I know gameplay should come before the story, but I think by minimizing the amount of battles to fit my ambition, that'll make gameplay better. Thoughts?

I mean, that's only really a problem if your combat isn't thought out, in any sense of the word. Paper Mario and especially Undertale bypass the tedium of turn based combat by making it more interactive, but that by itself doesn't really solve the issue of "regular battles" not being fun.

If your game is short, don't put in more than you should. Easy peasy.
I made a tool that streamlines the Galv Layer Graphics tool. Instead of looking up which numbers are supposed to go where, it asks a question and you choose different responses and it makes the numbers for you! Would anybody like to use it?
I wonder what the first thread was on this website...

I think it might have been a warning about double posting from a mod...maybe from the Gorilla from the forum rules. :stickytongue:

Open the hosts file and set "youtube.com"'s IP address to 127.0.0.1. Problem solved. :p

Here's some dudes that I'm drawing for Jimmy's Quest!

I didn't test them in front of black backgrounds. Looks like I'm going to have to do some tweaking :elswt:
Decided I should actually start writing the entire plot sequence of the game down instead of thinking of things as I go and kind of having an idea of how it gets from A to B. Just need to write down what's already there, and then I can start really planning things! My best ideas are yet to come.

you gonna trip balls when you realize that the same thing exactly is what actual professionals do.

Nothing like coming back and saying...how the heck did I do this...where did this inspiration come from...I like it, but I don't remember specifically doing this...and I could never recreate this if I lost it...I could come close...but it wouldn't be exactly the same...creations rarely are.
Is there a link to the 1.6.1 update patch notes? All I can find is 1.5.0 and I can't find anything on Gotcha Gotcha Games' site

Time for the next chance for y'all to affect my advent calendar! Where should Day 7's sprite come from: land, sea, or demon realm? :rwink:
Throné's final boss is weird. He is a guy holding a baby while fighting off attackers. I think his name was Santos. I might be thinking of someone else.
I think I've just about finished fighting the fight with the tileset I was most intimidated by for game jam. No pictures yet, the map isn't presentable, but I think the tileset will work! I'm very relieved XD
Twitch! At it again with more gamedev for a couple hours, followed by some Valheim with my friend. Feel free to drop by~
these 80+ gb updates on several years old games are the absolute worst. I just want to play for an hour or so before bed to unwind. Sorry, gotta spend that time downloading an update. Then my mods will be broken so I'll have to start over or wait for those to be updated to. Is a complete game within three years of the pay to be a beta tester period really to much to ask?
