    This is potentially too big a topic for Status Updates which is meant to be much lighter - random thoughts, odd bits of info. You might like to look in both General Discussion and Game Mechanics Design for threads discussing different aspects of boss's and their frequency.

    Yup, I agree with Kes on this one. Go make a thread! This is one that can only be answered after weight a huge number of aspects of a game!
    Currently hit a writer's block. Finding it difficult to make a plot and characters for a game...

    Try something out of the ordinary. If you usually get your ideas for certain kinds or genres of media, pick up something completely different. I got a good amount of my ideas on magic from reading the Dresden Files book series and the D&D 5e players handbook for example. I once picked up a few episodes of Gunsmoke (black and white westerns, baby!) and came up with a some-times antagonist for my current game. Taking trips to new places, going to eat or going for walks, just getting out and having experiences outside of games/media...you'd be surprised where all inspiration can come from. I even learned a bit about forest mapping from just going on a hike lol. Hope this helps!
