  • My D&D players always forget they have ranged attacks. And they rather chase fleeing enemies on foot than fling their ranged attacks. -_-"

I had a pretty serious itch for some spycraft not too long ago, not into the d&d thing these days. meow. I think I'll just make a cat spy.. cra..ft.. adventure maybe?

Hubby used to DM for novice groups... Had one group who kept chasing down the fleeing enemies to kill them, despite their time-sensitive objective being the other direction. Guess they were all battle-loving players.

My DM wants me to forget that I have ranged attacks. I throw feces at everyone.
I kind of feel like the standards for "entertainment" have slipped the last few years. Movies... Books... Video Games... TV Shows... Hmmm.

I watched an episode of that, and thought it was interesting. My friend said it was great and convinced me to watch an episode with him. The first Watch Dogs game reminded me of it. Well, the whole being told where crimes were, then taking out the criminals without killing them did. I hope we're thinking about the same show. xD

Yup. Same show. They eventually add more to the cast. It gets really good. :D Ending is a MASSIVE tearjerker. :D Worth the ride!

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have to see if I can find it on DVD. :)
Okay, maybe I'm crazy. Does this website share the same phenomena of "Christmas Noobs" as other places? I'm seeing a lot of new faces!

I usually get the most work done on my game during winter months when I don't want to go anywhere and stay inside. o_O Best time to hunker down and get to work!

The site usualy sees a sudden influx of fledgling game makers when Christmas, or the Steam sale, rolls around. Some try the Steam RPG Maker discussion boards for support, but they aren't all that great, to be honest. It's nice to see new blood learning new things, and sharing their work in the community.

@Tai_MT Me too, I progress so much more in the winter. ^.^b It's one of the reasons I love it. I've heard that people in cold countries tend to practice more creative hobbies, because they're stuck indoors for longer periods of time.

I dunno if I should finally try to load up the "Stalker" series... Or, if I should just make some supper and watch anime.

Give Stalker a try. You won't regret it
Instead of working on Skill Animations, I'm creating more Relics... It's fun, at least. Only 100 more to create! :D
It's Saturday... my friends have apparently canceled the D&D Refresher... And... I have nothing to do now.

Play some Tales from Candlekeep: Tomb of Annihilation. It's basically the D&D board game (not the RPG) in digital form. It's on sale on Steam at the moment. I really like the D&D board games. I have D&D: Castle Ravenloft board game, but no one ever wants to play it. xD

I need to increase my java script and blender skills. Less adventuring and more practicing. ; _ ; It a good time occupier for this non-working/presurgery time I've got.
Okay, done with the prep for "Recap" in D&D. I need a break before I finalize the next session.
I'm awake. I'm awake. I don't want to be. My feetsies were finally warm and stopped tingling. I need breakfast. I don't want to cook.

I don't know, I hadn't really considered adding anything like that in my game. I think it'd be harder to get emotionally invested like that in an RPG without voice acting and expressions. With D&D, it's easy to "make facial expressions as the NPC" so players know what you're thinking, and easy to make voices so they get an idea of the character.

You can make use of different dialects and, if possible, faces\busts. You could have something using cute words, or speaking in a cutesy way, but trying to be fearsome. :D I'm making use of a lot of slang in my game. There's also someone who uses baby speak a lot.

I dunno, it might be possible. I think my biggest blocks to doing it is that it's kind of an "adult" setting. Not a lot of children out and about. Lots of "dark" content and sometimes "depressing" things. I mean, it's not "grimdark", since I've written humor for it. I'm just not sure how I'd pull something like that off in my setting, and make it emotionally effective.
How do you write good sad scenes? Listen to "Hurt" by Johnny Cash. "And you could have it all. My empire of dirt. I will let you down."
The secret to falling in love is to love absolutely everything about the person you're with. That's why it's so hard to find.
Great Teacher Onizuka. If you haven't seen it yet. Go watch it.

I don't think so, but if you mean that 6 episode long OVA from the 80's or 90's then that's a golden show too (no pun intended)! :D
I finished wrapping presents! Unfortunately, you can tell I was "learning as I went". The last one I wrapped looks done by a pro.
I need to wrap presents, buy soda, put in basic work on RPG Maker Fes, and do more animations in RMMV. -_-" TOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!
Got RPG Maker Fes today. Interfaces are clunky, it's a little limiting... But... I LOVE IT! Yep, I'm weird, I love limitations.

I love a challenge too, but this ain't the kind of thing. I love rm2k kind of challenging. Because there you have a huge leeway to achieve stuff through advanced eventing.

It's okay, I too love limitations. It's why I make SNES music that can be played on real hardware since the limitations are insane. 64k of RAM, loops having to be in multiples of 16 samples, effects memory management, etc.

It is really difficult to enjoy "The Walking Dead" game, when 100% of survivors are morons and it doesn't let you shoot them. Like Kenny.

I recommend picking up the book, "World War Z". It's basically the best Zombie Outbreak in media. It's written VERY well, exceptionally believable, and has a ton of detail. If you want more detail, you can pick up "The Zombie Survival Guide" as well, which treats the outbreak like a real thing.

I've heard of the survival guide, but was put off of buying it because of how many people hold it up as some sort of factual insight into how zombies really are and will be. I get annoyed by things like that, for some reason. xD

Well, it does go into detail on the virus itself, and what little "is known" about it. I don't know that it would ever be "factually accurate" for dealing with a real zombie outbreak, but I found it a fascinating read and take on the common "movie zombie" outbreak.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
