    Because media doesn't translate well between mediums.  You'll be bottle-necking yourself with lack of interaction and dialogue as well as other instruments for a story that can only be used for the written form.


    Look at books brought over to movies or games.  Or games that became movies.  The differences are startling, and the story may change to reflect certain limitations.


    Just remember the story you are telling can change due to the nature of how the audience experiences it.

    A novel and/or movie  generally do not translate well into a game (look at all those crappy movie games for examples :) ).


    Games have way fewer lines of dialogue total and the strongest point of games is interactivity (trying to limit that interactivity starts to turn the game away from actually being a game).  Plus stories are never the actual focus of games for they are not the purpose of games (games with more of a story focus are more about escaping into another reality and placing yourself in another's shoes).


    It is why all these games have generic characters (easy to place yourself in there spot) and game stories only ever reaching B level stories at most (it is hard to make a good story and let all of the players fit into the protagonist's shoes).


    Any game that tries to fight this tends to never sell all that well compared to those that do not fight this (for most people are not all that interested in it).

    Personally I think it's more to do with the graphics. The way rm2k/3's tiles are layer out is just better, I think. Except the autotiles, good luck figuring those out, it's a fever dream. X____X

    BTW.: it's pretty hard to find this one on youtube, since people always name it wrong as Sunken Shrine/Underwater Temple, that is Kraken's dungeon, not the last one.

    Just don't do it with cats. Everyone knows you can't herd cats. If you try, just have them move in random directions instead. =P

these 80+ gb updates on several years old games are the absolute worst. I just want to play for an hour or so before bed to unwind. Sorry, gotta spend that time downloading an update. Then my mods will be broken so I'll have to start over or wait for those to be updated to. Is a complete game within three years of the pay to be a beta tester period really to much to ask?
