I dont get how some ppl consider moddable game = the dev is lazy. Isn't that wonderful that you're able to mod the game?

Bare-bones features that are supposedly intended is an excuse to let developers get off the hook for not putting in the effort to make it something engaging. The inclusion of mods should never be an excuse to not put effort into a feature.

I'd argue the bare-bones features are essential for moddable game and it does not always need to be engaging on its own. It is not an excuse, it's a decision.

I think having a game being able to be modded is great Unless there is a strong sense of 'missing' things in the base game itself.
After like 3 (or 4) months away from gamedev, I'm glad I took a note about a to do list I want to do.

I hate game trailers. Most of the time they just show some fancy movie that I don't care at all. Gimme a gameplay showoff.
I exchanged my phone with my dad and I forgot to log out my google/youtube account. Now the YT recommendation is messed up.

@bgillisp I was thinking the same thing. I'm already playing Youtube roulette on a daily basis even for things I don't watch but don't know why shows up on my recommendations. lol!

@Amane Kagari : Ive done that before when I'm really bored. What I do is I type in a song that I know, then all future songs I have to pick a unfamiliar song from the recommended on the sidebar. One day I ended up listening to songs sang in Norweign before it was over.

Just as long as your account doesn't have smut on the front page, your good. If it does, well, prepare for some awkward looks.
It's funny to see some ppl in a gaming community pretend to know how to gamedev.

Well... Many indie titles suggest it's sad instead of funny.

Loads of gamers do it. It's cute at first, but then it becomes annoying. Like when gamers think it's easy for an entire dev team to just drop a game engine and use a completely different one. It's not like devs need experience with specific engines and languages in order to use them effectively or anything.

Actually, working on my game gave me the experience to understand how hard it is to create a game, even for a full company with many employees. Some things aren't easy to do, but at the same time, some other things are easier to do than we first think.
Why I think the concept of inn in RPG is not interesting, especially when the sole purpose of it is just to recover all stat.

In a wip game I used an inn similar to what Galenmereth suggests but my structure is a bit different. You go to the inn at the end of your current adventure and spend your money their on doing things that ultimately open up new adventure options or reveal character development for your heroes. Resetting stats is just implied. Hope that helps.

there*, I miss edit... also, examples are spending gold on a drinking game where at the end of it, while drunk, one of heroes reveals how they lost their eye in duel but lost much more... their honor & their love. Another one might be getting the local bard to play a favorite bar song or you tip the traveling dancers to dance with their friends. These can lead to character moments.

Yeah, too much needless stuff for just a simple mechanic of restoring all HP and MP. I just get round that by making a shrine or health station players can interact with. Takes them only 5 seconds to recover everything and move on rather than a whole minute. It's more enjoyable if you want to get it done with and move on to more interesting aspects of the game.
I hate puzzle in RPG, but I forgive slippery floor puzzle.

I hate puzzles that aren't really puzzles. Pushing a boulder onto a floor switch, in an empty room, is not a puzzle.
For the first time in years my project data actually get corrupted and it was in the most important part. Luckily it was a side project.

I usually have a couple proof of concept projects going and usually those don't get a backup unless there's enough set up that I want to save it.

    Well, thats reasonable.
But if I have at least put more than a hour in it, it always gets a backup.
Spent my entire weekend marathoning Mujin Wakusei Survive. I wish I knew it sooner. Worth it 9/10!
Anime nowadays seems to have "convenient early incident". Sudden outbreak for a sake of sudden out break. The story need it. No other reason

I love owari no seraph but I agree with you. Now that I think about it, I guess I like it because of Mika... I don't watch anime at all nowadays. Too many echhi, harems and cute but useless girls. I only read old manga nowadays.

But...but...how else are the characters to get off of their cartufasas and defeat the evil with the power of love and friendship?

Power of Friendship,a mass destruction weapon. If you have friends, you will have power to withstand gods or nuclear annihilation lol.
Which is worse? a mouse that accidentally double clicks or a mouse that you need to click twice making sure it clicks?
Problem with making an open source game is that ppl start begging me to port my exclusive script to make it works for their games.
