  • After coming across in game issues that weren't present in playtesting, spending the last 3 days fixing some of them but having to scale back the project, the project becoming corrupted and having to use an out of date version I've given up trying to get a demo out for the contest. I'm extremely disappointed in myself right now.

...best in earnest, and you probably learned a ton about how you could make your process better in the future. Show yourself some love, and try to focus on how you're better because of it.

Thanks for that. I did learn that I have to be more organized going forward and to not wait until the last minute to see that everything is working. For now I'm gonna take a break before I make my head explode with this nonsense :rswt

Don't feel bad, Uzuki! I've been there myself and while it sucks in the moment, I feel like I've learned so much not only about working under pressure, but also about myself. Take a well deserved break after all this crunch and I promise you next time will be better :)
Just opened MV for the first time in weeks and Jesus is the text so freaking small compared to MZ on my TV. Like holy crap I can barely see anything.

@Uzuki, nice to see you, again. Wow, you are so creative that you hook your pc to TV screen. For the tech question, do you make by projecting the scene or wire directly?

I haven't really noticed the text being small in MV but maybe I'm used to it. Or it doens't transfer to a bigger resolution well.

@Kupotepo Hello! I just used a HDMI cable to hook it up to the TV.

@MerlinCross I don't know what resolution that everyone else is using but if it's 1080p 16;9 aspect ratio then be warned that MV does NOT scale up to that.

Engine wise, MZ is a vast improvement on MV and I can already feel we'll be seeing some great games come out of this. Just having the resolution be bigger on my 1080p TV means no more squinting trying to work in the database.

I will say it feels more stable for me on my PC just in my dabbling in my test project today.

Yeah it does feel like things are a lot quicker to load and no stuttering or hang ups at all.
For anyone that has bought the Degica Dream Pack MV ー Modern pack was there a flamethrower type animation in the pack? I've been desperate to find one for my current game and haven't had any luck.

There's a fireball (non-magic looking one) animation sheet in there. can't see a flamethrower, though.

Dang. Even just shooting fire from a frontview perspective would work. The Breath animation from MZ would be perfect if I could somehow get it into a animation sheet for MV.
I've been decompressing from my main game by making another game in RM Fes and I've gotta say it's actually been fun and has gotten the creative juices flowing having to work around the limitations on the.
Got my new computer in and it's so weird seeing my game actually run at 60FPS after being used to jank for the last year and a half. I might actually have to go through and fix up all of the Wait commands now T.T

Does anyone know what updates the Yanfly plugins are getting? I know it's not new features or anything like that, but if it's more optimization then I'll gladly pay to get the latest ones.

I believe the funding Yanfly left was to update all plugins when new versions of MV are released, so they will always work with the latest version of the engine. And maybe bug fixes. Not sure if optimization is in the list. @Archeia?

wait? an actual overall update is happening? I just saw on the site that 2 plugins had been updated.

I've been getting feed alerts on Itch.io for awhile about the packs being updated for months, but there aren't any patch notes to say what is being updated.
Make sure to always tag your threads, gang. I had to google for a issue I was having with a skill and the first three results were me asking the same question in three different threads :kaosigh:
You know, after all these years of using RM I've never played To The Moon. With being busy with life and then after my mom died I was too emotionally fragile to play something that heavy. Has anyone played the Switch version? Is there any big differences between that and the RM version?
Making a game with permadeath characters was the worst mistake I could have made with this project. So many variables and conditional branches :kaodes:

I can see how that would be a huge pain, could you run a common event in terms of deaths for characters and go from there. I imagine you've already done something like that, if not do that ahah. And make it run for said characters when they die.

Unless you want it to feel personal then you'd have to add a lot more lines in terms of what happens * character dies.

Yeah I've got a common event to check who's in the current party so I don't constantly have to check who's alive and who's dead. It's more just having to write scenarios, check how many people are in the current party, who's in the party, and what member position they're in. Plus I can't get as creative with the writing as I want because then I'm writing dozens of scenarios and it's such a pain.
*Opens Editor* So we meet again my old enemy... THE MAP!!

Yeah, Level Design is probably my biggest weakness when it comes to game design. I've gotten way better since I started, but it takes so much time and energy for me to do. I'm very self-conscious when I make rooms and such and make sure they're not too cluttered or too spacious and make easy to read for new players.

@Sauteed_Onion Don't assume that parallax is the only way to get that interest and polish. People manage to do amazing things just with the editor.
What I have noticed is that, in general, if people cannot make an interesting map in the editor, they are unlikely to make an interesting map using parallax. Level design is more than just being pretty pretty, and unfortunately that's where a lot of parallax maps stop.

Thanks for the info. At some point though, I just need to realize, it's me first game, and it just won't be perfect. Learn the most I can and learn from the critiquing.

@dulsi I will not adhere to such slander and blasphemy! (Yeah 11 is really good and I'm glad that it fixed a lot of the issues I have with the other games)

@Amysaurus It's amazing how different it is from its main source. I have friends whose first introduction to MM was legends and they were sad on how different they were.

Hey folks, if you post about a problem you're having, and people give you suggestions to fix it, and one of those suggestions works, don't forget to come back and let them know. And it wouldn't hurt to say thanks while you're at it ;)
