  • Messing around with Mixcraft. The events that kick off the greater plot of Chapter 1 of Part 2 of my game are in process. But, I'm not in a game making mood today. :o
Okay, so quick question: How do I have an if statement in Ruby that checks an array and compares it to a variable? If the variable value is contained in the array, do x. Otherwise, do y.

    if my_array.include?(my_variable)

I think it is include?, but check the heel file, go to index, and click on Array. Is the first entry. It should be include?.

Yep, just checked, it's include?. Good luck!
Ahh, making that Scan skill via scripting has a few more wrinkles than I had anticipated. Maybe I'll actually keep working on Part 2 on Dryantia per se for a few days. :o
Close to cracking the Escape issue with my Escape Item (Shiny Coin). Wish me luck!

I hope you can get it figured out, technically you could have probably set the item to run a common event, and if the enemy was a boss it wouldn't work, but if it was a normal enemy have the common event play a skill that automatically ends the battle.

I'm so close Animus. I even know what variable is the one being referenced, but the boolean won't cooperate. Keep getting true/false can't be integer or something to that effect. :/
Hahaha...first boss fight of my game has been broken for like 4 builds now. Caught it 30 minutes. *shaking my head* :/
Well, I'll keep looking at the code tomorrow. My brain's fried.

Goodluck, coding in Ruby is said to be one of the easier ones, but I've decided for a while I wasn't going to touch it.

I think the problem here isn't so much the language itself, it's the way Enterbrain encrypted a non-trivial portion of the code. I could probably figure it out given enough time if I had full access to the code (I'm pretty good at things that require logic, and I have some prior experience with Python; at least enough to not be totally lost all the time with Ruby). But, a lot of the code (including the code for things like the special effects such as Substitute and Escape) seems t...

Thank you for the good wishes Animus, I'll need all the luck I can get! :o
Why is everything so obfuscated in RPG Ace? Can't just tell me what variable holds whether the party can escape or not, can you, accursed code?! -__-

    What do you mean?

Oh, I'm here trying to make an item that only allows players to escape from battle if the Escape Command is allowed. However, I can't seem to find where the engine stores that information. :(
    Winterfate
I've narrowed it down to the BattleManager module and Scene_Battler, but I keep getting nil:NilClass errors. :(
Looking at Ace's code is a slog, to say the least, but at least I'm learning some basic things about it, and by extension, Ruby itself.
Trying to make heads or tails of the data structure in Ace's scripts. Beginner-level programming knowledge + Ace Scripts = Ouch.
Wrote up a new blog post. If you want to participate in my game's beta, check out Game Post 4 on my blog!
Wrote up a general overview of my game, Dryantia, over at the blog I have on this site. Feel free to read and/or comment. :)

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
