And can we skip these action sequences? The first one is too long to be looking at it too many times.

@Poryg I hope you know that these "Long" action sequences are actually Desperation Finishers that require you to be low on HP and can only be used once per battle.

You don't spam them. Ever.

People keep commenting on the fact that these things are too long but forget that they're meant to be used rarely.

I did not forget anything, to be honest. Even if it's usable only once per battle, if I use a 3 second animation in 60 battles, it's 3 minutes of total time. If I use a 20 second animation in 60 battles, it's 20 minutes of total time just spent watching the same animation. But the eye candy of the 20 second animation stays for like 3 or 4 uses or so, so I prefer to be able to skip it.

Valid point but...

Why would you purposely put yourself under a critical state just to use the skill?

You have other skills that you can use in order to defeat normal mooks.

I've never said anything about getting on low health on purpose. I don't know how your game works, how its hp management works, so I wouldn't even dare. For example there are games where you regen hp after battle, there are games where you don't. If you don't in this game (which I don't know) and the desperation finishers are enough to FTK a random encounter, you sure could use that often.

And frankly put, I've already encountered games where you have long and unskippable animations and are pretty much forced to see them (unless you want to play the whole game with basic attacks), so after experiences with these I pre-emptively ask when I see a long animation.

Well, I see the problem now. You don't know how the game works. XD

Trust me, it leans more towards people who want a fast-paced battle, as well as give them more choice on how to approach them. (Standard skills are relatively short)

To sum it up: Encounter rates are optional except certain cutscenes, and if you do spot an inevitable battle, you can choose to use the environment around you as an alternative.

The video pretty much showcases what I can do with Yanfly's action sequences when I go overboard. If you want an in-depth explanation of my battle system and the game itself, I'd be glad to!

And to answer the HP question: You recover all of it after a battle.

There's no need for an in-depth explanation, since I am very forgetful. Maybe I'll give the game a chance once it comes out, so it would be spoilers as well :}
Yup, with Yanfly action sequences you can do a ton of stuff. With VE's action sequence plugin just as well, in fact one part of the long sequence resembles a skill animation from Victor's video showcase.

Maybe for exaggeration purpose, how about more actions like vibratro's one, instead of just laser beam?

The problem with the animation is, yes it's long, and you countered it with "it's rarely used". There comes the second problem, it's exaggerated but boring. It has less impact and it also feels less satisfying. So I somewhat still want a skip button.

@TheoAllen My initial thought was to have this skill be quick and powerful, like the actual "Warp Kamehameha" or Cell's "Solar Kamehameha". If it didn't give that much of an impact, then by all means, tell me how to improve it instead of saying "It has less impact and less satisfying, so give it more actions". It's too vague and leaves me wondering what could I do to make it have more punch.

I also want to add that these kinds of skills are entirely optional to obtain. If you don't want to use them because they feel "too long", then don't even do the steps to get them. You can achieve the same efficiency using other skills.

It is my choice as a dev to make it unskippable, just like how you also have unnecessary vices for your game. Some people will like it, some people won't. That's just how it goes.

Found the video I was looking for. Forward to 1:36 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-C2Fu0EJFEY

Anyway, what I'm saying is... what I see in a whole sequence is just laser beam, with damage counter goes up. Like, okay I know you use laser beam, so can I skip it? Vid above's more dynamic than ur constant laser beam

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
