"Hey you know that mechanic that is in the game that is really cool and one of the most interesting things about the exploration in this game. What if you just, you know, couldn't use it sometimes." "BRILLIANT!".

@Touchfuzzy it would be fine if the game would throw you a bone when it's so obvious there's a korok seed. Such as when there's a stump korok. It's obvious. It's right there. You have to climb something. And yet it still rains.

There's a korok seed that I'd have within seconds if it wasn't raining. I had to wait for it to stop raining to get it. You really think I'll come back here hours later, game developers!? Nope! Rain was a bad call in an otherwise sterling masterpiece.

I mean, I have other complaints about the game, I think they didn't learn enough from other games in the open world genre (the tower climbing segments are the worst tower climbing segments from any open world game), but the rain is like the crowning achievement of "Why" in the game design.

I get where they were going for. I think it comes from the perspective that they wanted to make sure you never felt like you were in full control of the world. However, normally when Nintendo does this, they give you a tool later on to overcome the issue. I think the idea would have worked if you obtained the ability to control the weather using the slate later on.

you can just drop some wood, make a fire and wait it out...except in that one dang region.

I believe that you are the chosen one who can stop the rain, Eschaton. It's going to be an upward climb, but . . . *Rain starts to fall.* . . . Welp, nvm.

On the contrary, @Touchfuzzy, I find the tower climbing in BotW one of the less offensive implementations of that system.

@RavenBlueIndigo It's slow, its obnoxious, there is nothing tricky about it at all, and there are too many of them. Like, with Far Cry at least I generally had to search for the way up. It wasn't obvious and just took time.

The best implementation of it is still the long necks in Horizon: Zero Dawn. It was more about finding how to jump on them than climbing them, and they didn't pad out the game with tons and tons of them.

@Touchfuzzy, Breath of the Wild has spoiled me. It has ruined games like Witcher 3, RDR2 and Horizon because they want to inundate me with tutorials instead of letting me play. Someday, I'll get through it, but until then...

The reason that those other games have to have tutorials is because there is more than 2 things to do in the game.

There's plenty to do in BotW. That being said, I appreciate that the designers erred on the side of simplicity. I feel like those other games don't understand that complexity does not equal depth.

Just got FES pack for my MZ. The details of the tilesets and chars seem not very compatible with MZ rtp. Look like they are scaled up. Not saying it's bad, but just won't fit well.
I've been busy with other things lately but I'm getting back into working on stuff for my game next month. I think I'm going to fiddle with making NPC busts next, mixing and matching stuff from DLC I've purchased.
Just finished composing a boss battle theme!
