why would you have to re-import anything? I've never had to do that.
@Shaz Minor fixes to the tile set, observing differences, adding elements, editing in new things after getting a base, and mis-positioning things like windows that need to be oddly spaced by tile rather than even.
None of that should require reimporting. Unless you have one version for editing and another that goes into the game.

It depends on what you edit with. If you use layers there's value in keeping the original file somewhere else. But if you just have the same thing in two places, not so much. Of course, you'd still have a backup of your project, you're just not editing those resources
