    when Im trying to work on a piece of pixel art I mean. I dunno if that makes any sense, but I constantly have issues with light source AND contrast.... issues with perspective too. :<

    It's because you're doing everything all at once. Think of it less like a drawing and more like carving. Start with a general shape, then do lighting, then refine and do outlines (if you're doing outlines), then clean up and detail. No one can keep everything in the front of their mind all the time.

    If you start with things like outlines you'll end up often putting a lot into something that needs to be changed, but if you focus on the bigger, more general stuff first, you can mess around with it more when it doesn't matter as much and get things right at your own pace.

    Speaking from my own experience and from what I've seen watching other artists, the color and contrast gets tweaked through the whole process. So don't worry too much about getting it right the first time.
