For situations like that, I whip out my phone and use the Google Translate app's camera feature. It will translate whatever the camera sees in real-time. Just point the camera at your monitor, but the translation will only be as good as Google Translate is at translating...

Most "Cursed Problems" are just a symptom of a designer either not thinking hard enough or framing the problem too narrowly, IMO. For this Language Issue, three good solutions I've seen are:

1) Use symbolism or pictures; for example two different types of flags or a Roman A and a Japanese Hiragana A

2) Display the "Language" option name in each language you offer, or if you offer more than 3, then in the 3 most common languages you offer

3) For any GUI that allows "hover" behavior, show the language choice sub-options in their respective languages as soon as the player hovers over the symbol (or moves their cursor onto the option in a keyboard select system)
