Why'd they put you on those? Do they suspect swelling or something in your head? I know they can be used to relieve temperatures, too.

For pain relief. They gave me essentially a boosted version of Alleve (don't know if you're familiar with it)

No, never heard of that. Here, many doctors seem to avoid prescribing anti-inflammatory meds, preferring to give patients paracetamol instead for pain relief. Not 100% sure why, though, I'm not a doctor.

It's commonly used for allergies and headaches; I was just prescribed a hyped-up version of it. It's called an anti-inflammatory, but it's multi-purpose I guess.
Doc ruled out the more concerning causes. They suspect either a form of migraine, or low iron/glucose levels in my blood. I'll hear by Thursday if it's anything serious. Makes me angry I had to go to a doc for a headache

Better safe than sorry. So many nasty, even fatal, problems can have mundane symptoms. One minute you're feeling fine, perhaps got a bit of a cough, the next you're in hospital with pneumonia. I've met a few people who refuse to see a doctor despite having little symptoms that last for great lengths of time, or are so frequent they may as well be persistent.

Yeah, that's true
But also, most of the time, those little issues are just little issues and then I feel bad for having taken time that someone with more serious issues could have needed.

I had a migraine that lasted over half a year, so I know exactly what you're going through. I quickly burned through the possible prescription options due to allergies and ended up doing botox injections. I was in the lucky small percentage that they worked on first try, and now I just have normal migraines as often I used to.

I agree with the Stranger, it feels frustrating to go into the doctor for what feels like nothing, but it's better to be on the safe side with these things, especially when your brain is involved. Tiny little symptoms like listing to one side when walking can mean you'll be dead in a few hours if ignored. (My dad almost died that way, luckily we're more stubborn than him.)

Good luck with that. Sounds like they have you on naproxen which is a Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory drug or NSAID. Under a prescription it can be quite a bit higher dosing than Aleve. Just watch for stomach issues. I have to be careful with that sort of thing as I'm prone to bleeding....

I know it was better to go to a doctor and to make sure. I just...ugh. Wish I didn't have to.
And yup, morgan, naproxen. I was warned to take it with food because of the stomach side effects haha. Apparently I'm on a high dosage? But the pain relief still only lasts a few hours on it.

Yeah it's not long lasting. Honestly for me the best pain reliever is ketorolac administered via IV but, again, it's also an NSAID so can't use it for long without possibly bleeding..... Lots of people want opiates for pain but those make me nauseous........ I'd rather have a couple days of ketorolac for post surgery.

I'd rather nothing...but I have too much to do, so if taking meds this time will allow me to actually be productive later this week, so be it. I prefer to heal on my own if I can, because majority of prescriptions make me sleepy or some other immobile side effect and then I absolutely can't do anything for the day.

Sometimes the body can't heal on its own. I hate going to the doctor and taking meds, but I sometimes just don't have a choice. Well, I do, but it's a choice between trying to get better and whatever I have getting worse.

There's actually loads of prescription migraine medications that aren't nsaids or opiods. Will you be seeing a neurologist soon, or do they want to see if it's going to keep lasting?

I'm waiting to get my bloodwork results back first. If that doesn't answer any questions but the headaches continue, I'll have to consider seeing a specialist.

Are you feeling any better? [Insert Hugs emoji here 'cuz I couldn't find one...]

Um, kind of? I have an diagnosis, at least?
Turns out, I have a specific type of anemia known as pernicious anemia >.>

*looks it up* Oh wow. Treatable at least, and maybe you'll be treating other symptoms you didn't realize you had so that'll be nice too. Glad you got a result! It sounds like it could have been pretty dangerous if you hadn't gotten it checked out.

Micro rant. The worst part of working from home when you live with your family is seeing how inconsiderate they are. "Hey, you're sitting in front of your computer, that means you're not doing anything! I want to put the TV at 200 decibels!"

If I was working in the office would you still talking me like that?
It's definitely discouraging when streamers give a try-to-say-it-nicely (i.e. bad) review of your game demo. It's like jumping into a cold pool. Bad initally, but it gets better with time. And you are now more alert and see better.
