You can have a maximum of 999, try to copy paste the events if you are going to replicate them
The more events you have, the more lag you're likely to have. Keep that in mind.
150-200 before it lags (if using Ace) I know when I have more than 200 events if the game is becoming a slideshow instead of a game.
Actually you can have more than 500 events without much lag if they are just static, the problem start when they are parallel process or you can use the anti-lag script

If you create events in the editor, then it's 999 (the editor refuses to create more after that point), if you add them outside the editor you could even create a million of them (but don't expect the map to work...)
If you create events outside the editor you are not limited to only have 1 event per tile ^^
@Artificer - not really, even static events contribute to lag due to the sprites and other things created per event...
but yeah, theoretically, you could put SOOOOO many events if you don't restrict yourself to just making them on the editor itself...
