Ask Nathaniel to try to implement a filter that sends a user back to the post editor if their title is something like "In need of help". You'll probably have to give it a list of disallowed title names, but you can probably get it to where it will send them back and say "You need a better title". Not sure how the internals of the forum work, but I can't imagine it's *too* difficult.
Shaz, I need help. Is it possible to X with Y while Z also does X?
Don't the rules state to make your topic titles descriptive? Would it be possible to just make a new rule that if your topic isn't descriptive, it just gets deleted and nobody sees it? You could then link offenders who ask about their topic to the rules.
Well in reality you can't avoid question like that even in video game help forums and support. I see those titles on EA, ubisoft, Big fish games, etc... forums even with or without rules in place. So it normal for a usual support environment. It that how most people ask help and you can't change that. Especially for people who is normally shy to ask for help.
When I asked for help, I was specific about it. I wanted people to know what I was asking about so I could get an answer quickly. I didn't want people clicking, deciding it was boring, and leaving without answering. I wanted only people interested in solving that particular problem coming in and helping me solve it.
Jomarcenter, it happens with or without rules in place because most people don't bother to read the rules, so they behave as if the rules aren't in place.
I am much more likely to look at a thread and provide help if I can see the title in the list is something I am familiar with. I am annoyed if I go to a thread only to realize it's something I have no interest/experience in, and remember I've already been there 5 times and didn't recognize it because of a stu...
I've been on a really good streak lately of working on my game for at least a little bit each day. Even if I only complete one small task, it is still a much better pace than what I was maintaining previously!
