gah not the new edition of D&D.... stick to the tried and true D&D like 3.5.... unless your talking about 6 where they included the tarot master

^ To be honest I really like the 5th edition and this is coming from someone who was a GM in 3.5 :) It makes everything reasonably simple while still letting you make a proper character. Some things are missing, but it's not too bad.

There is a 6 now?

Did it change much?

its not out yet but its going back to 3.5's style with more classes and a fix for inflation

also 5th edition simplified things way to much and took out alot of what made D&D so fun.... also whats a D&D gm? i heard of the DM but never a GM....

I picked up 5E on the promise of "focused more on roleplaying and combat is downplayed". I started D&D at 4E, and oh God was that combat PAINFUL. A 3 on 3 fight was like a 20 minute session of just spamming At-Will powers. I want to play a bigger roleplaying experience and spend less time mapping than creating story.

I'm old school, I started at 2nd edition and found most of the newer editions unbearable. Never tried 3.5, just skipped to 4.0 from there. Skipped 5.0 entirely and just went ahead with Shadowrun instead.

3.5 is well the best of the editions.... has several skills, more character customization.... no at will powers... only problem is the inflation

GM is Game Master, it's a more general term, encompassing more games. And 5e isn't so bad. What about Pathfinder? Now that's a fun game.

i liked path finder... just missed the use of the D20.... but i also know it was basicly the poor rper's D&D

Missed the use of the d20? Pathfinder mostly uses the d20

the path finder i played the highest die rolled was a D12

it's not Path Finder, it's Pathfinder by Paizo Inc. They basically remade 3.5 and right now they are #1 in RPG sales and popularity

oh your talking about the D&D ripoff, seriously its D&D 3.5 yet they are trying to claim the whole thing as their own....

Well with over 5 years under their belt, and Wizards of the Coast dis****iniung 3.5, and Pathfinder having various different rules, and also considering the Open Gaming Licence, yeah it is their own.

not differant rules, just the same rules rewritten to seem differant, and by their own i mean their own idea that they came out with it first

D&D was the first RPG boardgame that i played, i moved through advanced 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 then back to 3.5, tried 5 then went back to 3.5... path finder was a wizard of the coast game which was basicly D&D with the rules changed for quick 2 hour campaigns, so you could have long breaks between sessions

also 3.5 isnt discon...

discontinued, they just arent releasing as much new material for it in hopes that 5.0 will sell more (though considering the price of a copy of 5th edition books i doubt they will sell well)

Pathfinder does have a lot of different rules... Combat Maneuver Defense, Combat Maneuver Bonus... Granted most of it is similar, but that's what the OGL was made for.

I'm interesting in checking out this path finder you mention though.

Also, who is continuing making 3.5 products?
Crimson Dragon Inc.
Crimson Dragon Inc.
home brewers, they send in their home brewed campaigns with home brewed races/classes/rules/etc and wizard makes them official material for 3.5, and the home brewer gets a cut of the profits,

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
