I normally don't support reboots anyways, seeing this causing to lose Sony money gives hope that they have to think of something more original next time... Though I admit to liking the current Star Trek and will watch the third one this week.

The first 2 movies and the comic books are ghostbusters for me. I kinda disregard this movie. I don't think the director understood ghostbusters and was clearly out of is debt for this franchise.

Quality of the movie aside, it looks like Ghostbusters 2016 flopped.

I don't understand the need these days to remake old movies with an all-female cast. For this movie in particular, that in itself was a complete turnoff and made me lose interest immediately. Honestly, I think if they'd cast men in the leads again, or at least a mix, it would have done a whole lot better.

@Shaz - The movie's first joke is literally a fart joke and they spend over half the movie mocking men constantly. The girls were all stupid stereotypes and it was incredibly racist to boot (funny since this is suppose to be about destroying stereotypes and empowering the oppressed according to all the quotes from people that worked on it).

I actually cannot see this movie as nothing but a terrible political statement or a controversy cash grab. No actor could make this movies good.

You want to do this kind of thing done right? Look what Star Wars 7 did. Despite the movies shortcomings that many disliked, at least it was good at the very least (and actually got the empowering woman point across without mocking men the whole time).

Also, I really hate the idea behind "empowering woman". The idea that any group of people are helpless without something coming in and giving them strength kind of defeats the entire point in the end. Kind of makes people feel the opposite effect even.
