Had the same problem and didn't find a solution after ages of researching.
Apparently, you can only create threads after you have posted something in another thread and get the "First Message" trophy. It worked for me after that.
Must be some kind anti spam protection.
They really need to add this information on their site..

We do have an anti-spam measure in place, new members' first two posts have to be approved. It's posted somewhere.

That is ok. I know the rest of the Actor 3 Set...
so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most.

Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
